9-hole option was great
This course has a 9-hole option in morning that was excellent for a quick round.
The Squire looks like a short course on the card but it is really fun playing. Any short holes it has are extremely interesting and require precise club selection to avoid obstacles
A Very slow nine
We found the course to be in good shape, Unfortunately we were paired with two men that had not played golf before. One guy whiffed three or four times every shot and hit it 20 feet. As a result the pace was very slow.
We played the Hank and King course earlier in the week and had a great time.
The food in the restaurant was very good and the servers were terrific.,
Fun to play. In great condition.
Had fun. Played forward tees with my nine year old and had a blast. Tees, fairways and greens were all in terrific shape. Would play again and again.
Great value for a quick 9 holes
We just had time to fit in 9 holes between a morning activity and dinner, and this fit the bill. When we got there, they even had a deal that for an extra $5, you could have any entree on the lunch menu, which was a nice surprise. We had a quick lunch sitting outside in their lovely Grille area. The staff was extremely friendly. I guess it could have been a slow pace, but the foursome ahead of us let us through on the 3rd hole because we were a twosome, and we moved right along. I would easily recommend this for a quick 9 holes, or inexpensive 18.
Nice day
Just played nine. Pace was slow so we played one hole over to create some space. Greens were a bit fuzzy. We play here because the cost is reasonable, its close and they have a nice grill and eating area. It's a popular place.
Good value
I was limited in time and only could play 9 before a trip to the airport. We booked the day of and found Starfire a perfect fit for time and value. We played a quick round with another like minded couple and enjoyed the course layout and the staffs friendliness. I will definitely play here again and try the 18 hole regular course.
A good 9 hole play in Scottsdale
The course was lush and green with fast greens. This 9 hole, par 34 layout is fairly tight and requires accurate shots if you are going to score well. Bunkers are numerous and well maintained and water is in play on numerous holes.
Great time.
I was late and they moved us o the next start and the staff were all very pleasant about it. The course is in very good condition and the pace was excellent. Nobody slow in front and nobody pushing us Weather was perfect and I couldn't ask for more.
Everything was great at the course golf carts up to par greens were great just too bad you couldn't do anything about the weather
Slow pace of play
It is truly unfortunate that the play was so slow because this course has some potential. Granted it was in overseeding season and the Club only had 18 of the 27 holes open. However, having said that it seems as if they tried to make the most money they could by having the same number of tee times available for 18 holes of play as they would for 27 holes of play. The result was hit and wait, hit and wait, hit and wait. Sometimes even hit, wait, wait, wait, wait. The ranger didn't seem to try and do anything about it. My father in-law and I finished playing one hole, the group in front of us was waiting just past the green and the group in front of them was just teeing off on a Par 3. Quite the back up. Some of the holes get quite narrow as well which resulted in golf balls coming out of nowhere without warning. I also witnessed some groups with people who clearly were not playing the right tees. I know it's not necessarily the Rangers job to police this but something needed to be done. I do plan to go back and give this course another chance but I am not in any sort of rush.
Get what you pay for?
Over all it was a good. Greens need some work though. ( kinda like little pits / mini pot holes , some quarter size.) It would be nice to play with others who are not there to get drunk.only made the round longer...finished last hole at last light.
