Starfire Golf Club - The King Course

Last played about 10 years ago and had an unfavorable opinion of course conditions. It must be under new ownership or current owners have put a lot of money into it. Tees, fairways, greens and bunkers were in good condition. Excellent value for the price.

We enjoyed our round at Starfire as the course was in good shape and pace of play made the round even more enjoyable. Service in the grill was not very good the waitress said they were very busy but there wasn't that many people dining. If that is the excuse management should have staffed accordingly. Everyone knows this time of year in AZ people come to visit and enjoy our weather.

First time playing this course and the last time. Course layout intertwines in Starfire subdivision. No signs indicating where the next tee box is. Terrible range facility - mostly dirt. The worst complaint was the tremendously slow play. Our group waited every tee box wondering what was the hold up. Were told that there were no starters or rangers on the course since the course decided they didn't need them. Got so fed up, quit the round after nine holes. Even though we played at a reduced rate, paying anything over $50 is a waste of your money.

The lack of concern by course management is very alarming. If I was not so upset, I would have asked for my money back. I believe that Golf Now should not even post this course on the website.

Played 18 holes on the King Starfire course. Got behind two groups of young men celebrating a bachelor party. Took almost five hours to play. On Hole No. 5 they became an eight-some and took almost 25 minutes to finish the hole while getting drinks. Called the clubhouse and got little response from a marshall except for making the two groups split apart. On Hole No. 12 another two golfers golfers joined the four in fromt of us to make a six-some. Two of the golfers started wrestling on Hole No 15 so called the clubhouse and you get an answering service which called back and said he was sending someone out. Nobody from the golf course came out. The group in front of us finished as seven golfers each hitting two balls. Called the clubhouse the morning after and got an answering service which did not pick up. Horrible management with no response if you have a problem.

Course played well, challenging with the water holes.

Odd layout weaving through the residental areas - fariways lined with very dense housing is not very attractive - many holes are noisy along very busy main roads (Hayden, Cactus, Shea) - carts very dirty - no gps on carts - no ice cooler on carts - water bottle filler stations on course were not functioning.

The grass was hard and marginal even in the fairways.

$175 bucks to play a round, we were the first ones out and someone barely showed up to check us in. While the course is challenging, the conditions around the fairways is not great. Lots of bare ground, mud, and really not well maintained. For the price to play here at this time of the year, I’d expect the course to be in MUCH better shape.

High cost for the layout and course conditions. And then they have the gall to charge for range balls.

Pace of play was slow - over 4.5 hours on a weekday. Yet no one was out there managing it.

The pace of play was 5 hours. No ranger on the course to keep things moving. No beverage cart person. It was 90 degrees out. Dirt and bare spots all over the rough area. They should refund my money. Very bad.
