Editor's Note: Course closed in 2018. See The Phoenician Golf Club listing.

The Desert/Oasis Course was the Phoenician's first 18 holes, which were later joined by the Canyon nine. The aptly named course may have desert surroundings but its numerous palm trees and blooming flowers will make golfers feel as though they've been transported to a tropical destination. Although all three golf courses cover only 150 acres, none of them feel cramped. Any lack of length is quickly forgotten after playing the creative challenges of the layout. The golf course offers plenty of variety that make it appealing to low and high handicappers alike. Dramatic elevation changes characterize the Desert nine, providing the breathtaking views that have led it to be the most requested course. The Oasis nine is memorable as well with water coming into play on six holes and a unique moat of sand on the par-4 finishing hole.

Played better courses for less

They had recently punched the greens. Would have been nice to know that since we paid $140 for the round. I have played better courses for less money. The golf cart was awesome because it had GPS , music, scores. The course itself was pretty straight forward nothing crazy. Would not play again for $140 in June.

Underwhelmed

Greens and fairways were not in good condition. I expected better. If you want to play a plush resort course, head over to Westin Kierland.

Mud Fest

Teed off as the second group off in the morning and played fairly quickly since we only had one group in front of us. Played 18 holes in 3 hours. That is where the compliments will end. The course was in sloppy condition. There was standing water in a few bunkers, the fairways were pure mud in some spots and the rest of the fairways were soaking wet. You would have thought it rained for 5 days with the conditions we played in. The layout is nice and it has some nice views, but just couldn't get into the round since every shot was a mud bath followed by wiping down your club for a minute. Several spots were so wet the club just went right under the ball. On top of that there were grounds crew members out watering all morning. You don't need to water water! For $89 it wasn't what you would expect and highly disappointed. We will not be going back!

Pleasantly Surprised

Was the first time playing here and wasn't sure what to expect. The two nines here offer differing contrast in golf. The front line is flat and winds through the resort. Most of the back nine is up on the hillside and runs through parts of the hillside desert before finishing back within the resort. The course overall was in good condition and greens rolled true. A good value and would play again.

Must Play

Beautiful course and lay out, it has changed a lot since refurbishments of new homes when they turned 27 holes into 18. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition. I expected the staff to be more professional,

Fun course to play

Bag drop guys were great. Pro shop cashier was very friendly and welcoming. We talked about changes in the course since this course used to be 3 nine hole courses and is now one 18 hole. Well managed crew. I thanked all 6 ground crew workers that I passed by while on the course. Greens ,sand ,fairways were perfect today. I thanked them for the hard work with maintaining this beautiful place. Cart girl was very kind and friendly. At the end the cart guys thanked me warmly and invited me to return soon. I will , this is a well run golf course, with nice staff working here at Phoenician.

Very nice...

Lovey place. The entire resort was shut down except the golf course and what a spectacular course it is. Everything is so nice and well cared for. Truly a very upscale locale.

Course is not overly challenging except the greens are pretty. I would play there everyday if I could.

Perfect round of golf

My friend and I played The Phoenician for the first time since the redesign. The course looks great and was in outstanding condition. The staff was very friendly even in the crazy times we are in. There were some super fun holes with outstanding views, especially on the back 9 when you get up in the mountains. I am a 10 index and played the front 9, 2 over par. I let the seltzers get the best of me and blew up the back 9, +14!!!

37 on the front, 50 on the back. The back was a little tougher but I also got a little too loose! (He was driving and it was a Friday afternoon so I had a few)

I would highly recommend this course!

Very nice course. Front seems a little long because of only one par 5. Enjoyed and look forward to playing again.
