Talking Stick Golf Club - O'odham Course
About
The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.
"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw
The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.
The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

Like it so much the first time we played it again the next day, considering how many courses we have to choose from I would say that's a huge positive
Would very much like to have played the south course but that was undergoing maintainance and not available. Would play that next visit if its open.
My husband loved the course nice and open and very well maintained.
Lack of a Marshall on Tuesday to keep the game flowing waited around a bit longer than we would have liked, but overall not a bad pace.
Better pace on Wednesday and the Marshall jay was very nice.
All staff are an asset to this course thank you
Okay
Course was in good shape for summer...I don't think I'd have any interest in playing it again. Perhaps is was the disinterested attitude of the staff...Really didn't feel welcome.
Tons of fun!
We played the south course at Talking Stick last summer and were very impressed. This time we chose the north course with a little apprehension. Boy, were we wrong. Talking Stick North turned out to be just as exciting, just as much fun, and in great condition! Afternoon play was inexpensive and fast. Fees included unlimited range balls. Friendly staff and relaxing bar made our experience even better. I would recommend either course to any golfer, of any level, looking for a fun, affordable, challenging round of golf. Kudos to Talking Stick!
Don't golf here on father's day
I did not complete my round. After a little over 1.5 hours to do the first 4 holes, and finding myself in a group that was the third group to tee off on the 5th hole, I asked for a rain check. They agreed to the rain check, but it was not a nice experience.
Great value on the reservation
There is not signage from the 101 and Indian Bend, so head for the Casino but pass it and continue on to the dead end, turn left, take this to the club drop-off and parking lot. A driving range on site. The north course is wide, long and mostly flat, but the sand traps are challenging. Lots of green with the only brown being the desert. The fast greens are difficult to gauge. Take extra balls. A quick pace (without waiting), which was appreciated in the desert heat. A welcome beverage/food cart stopped by several times. No misters or GPS on the carts, although a cooler with ice is provided. The pro shop has tempting, current golf gear. Staff was amenable and pleasant. We opted for lunch at the course restaurant. Wonderful service, ample portions, delish food and refreshing ice tea.
An outstanding track, but a little pricey.
The course is absolutely beautiful in perfect shape. The greens were fast but rolled true. I only saw 2 other foursomes during the entire round; it was like you owned the golf course. Having said that, the price was a little high ($89.00).
Nice course, not sure that it is worth the $; no beverage cart visit
It started out very windy, but after wind died down, we enjoyed the course much more. I was extremely disappointed that throughout the entire 18 holes, we did not get a visit from the beverage cart. Was pretty hot, too. I was excited to say, though, that I got a hole in one on the 11th, much to my husband's surprise. They gave me a flag but did not have the option of buying a plaque so i could put it right by my husband's plaque at home. All in all, it was a fun day, even though the only refreshment we got was the water on the course that was lukewarm at best.
Interesting features unique tract with well thought out design.
This is a well cared for golf course with greens at a Stemp of 10-11. Design is unique and I was surprised to find it is not by a renown architect. However, it plays like it was designed by Devlin/Von Hagge. Loved the par threes. Fair golf course not a lot of mystery as to where you need to hit the ball. Beautiful with fast pace of play we finished in 3 hours and 20 minutes. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. A Phoenix must play course!
Great course but the new greens are a challenge
The staff in the course are excellent as always. The new greens on the North course were hard and fast And not very receptive to an approach shot. I'm sure they'll soften up with time.
Too expensive. Course in v good condition. Greens great.
Too expensive.
Course in v good condition.
Fairways perfect.
Greens slick and frim, fun and challenging.
Staff friendly, course playable with wide fairways
Intersting course, Greens and sand traps tough, fairways very wide. Stark scrub land juxtaposed on green golf course very lovely. Woman friendly. Good pro shop
Great Course
Most other courses in the area tend to slack on the maintenance in the summertime, but Talking Stick North was in great condition given that it was summertime.
Boring course
The course was very boring with no stand out holes and kind of a boring layout and is way over priced for the course
Good Warm-up Track
Course is fairly wide open. No water on the North Course. Greens were slick and pins were placed in very tricky spots. Went off as a two ball (first off) - played in just about 3 hours. We paid a discounted rate which made it well worth the money esp. that time of year.
Nice Course but wouldn't rush back to play
Played the North Course yesterday and other than the over seeding still visible, the course was in nice shape. The course isn't overly difficult with generous fairways and large greens. My buddy and I have played many different courses and felt for $80 it was ok and we wouldn't be interested at regular price.
Wide fairways, good pace of play, and very good condition.
Enjoyed this course, and look forward to playing the companion South course. 'Cartpath only', due to overseeding, meant many long walks across the fairways, but the excellent condition of the fairways was a big plus. Greens were slowish, and there was plenty of sand in the bunkers.
Overpriced
Flat, boring course, with fairways so wide you didn't have to think on tee shots. Not one hole was memorable.
dog track
Played the north course for the first time and will not play it again. What a waste of space . Can you make a flatter course that all the holes look and play identical ? I hear the south course has a better layout but im.not going back to see if thats true, way to many course around the valley with the same cost.
disapointing
I was extreamly disapointed with talking stick north course. after being closed all summer to re-do their greens I found them to be in an unnacceptable condition. Half the flag sticks could not be stood upright, and all the greens were covered with worm tailings.
