The Talking Stick Golf Club features two golf courses designed by the architecture team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, who created distinct golf courses with enough choices to accommodate all levels of golfers. The golf club sits on the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation, a spot that provides the serenity necessary to endure a testing day of golf.

"Talking Stick's O'odham (formerly known as North Course) course, with its broad, angular holes rewards thoughtful play through the rise of its many options according to one's level of skill. Its low-profile, slightly crowned greens and close-cropped approaches encourage running as well as aerial assaults." -- Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw

The second hole is a par 5 that measures 552 yards from the Black tee and is one of two long holes, with the 17th being a par 5 that plays to 582 yards from the Black tees.

The 18th hole on the O'odham Course at the Talking Stick Golf Club is shorter, relatively speaking, a par 4 that measures 471 yards from the Black tees.

Average value for the money

Nothing wows me about the course. Seems a little long No real signature holes or panoramic views that got my attention. The food and service was good in the restaurant. They had a good beer selection.

Very good condition, good layout.

This was my first time playing Talking Stick, and I played the North course. It is a nice layout and in very good condition. It had a number of long par 4's,especially on the back nine, which made it challenging for a not super long hitter, but it was fair and enjoyable, and the staff was all friendly and helpful.

Lots of room

I played the North course and was expecting a little bit more of a challenge for such an expensive course. A number of the holes seemed to be very similar. At one time we turned the cart around because we were sure that we had already played the hole. The course did not excite us. I will say that, besides a few green repairs, the couse was in great shape and the staff with nice, friendly, and helpful. Definitely not worth paying 'winter' rates Dec. thru Apri.

It has good features, greens were not in good shape.

The greens on at least three holes were "patched" with pieces of sod. Green 18 on the North course was "unputtable". I have played this course a lot. This is the worst I have seen it. Poor greens!!!!!!!!!

Better wait for the fall

For the 50.00 that I spent it was a poor value. Eagle Mountain, Copper Canyon and Whirlwind are better value. Half of the greens were in back shape. The practice putting green was closed.

Talking Stick golf

The course was dealing with the rain that occurred several days before. There were still areas underwater. The course was in decent shape the greens were bumpy and slow, Overall the course is playable.

great course

This course is in great condition. The fairway grass was so nice I didn't want to step on it. There is only a handful of courses that have grass like this, which is expected for a Troon course. Everyone working here is super friendly from the golf club drop off to the pro shop to the ranger to the guy who cleaned my clubs at the end of the round. I like this course so much I will be back to play many times over. The pro shop guy and girl hooked me up with a troon card which is a cool thing. After you spend $500 you get a free round at any Troon course.

wide fairways and well placed bunkers well maintained fairways

I was very pleased by the friendliness of the staff Many times at the higher end courses the staff acts like they could care less whether you play there or not. This is not the case at talking stick. From the guy who checks you in to the starters , the grounds crew and the marshalls were all super friendly and spent time shooting the breeze with you if so inclined.I also wanted to include Molly as being super nice. Overall a great experience.

very slow play

took us three hours to play the front nine and we quit after 13. The rangers kept saying they were speeding up play, but nothing sped up. The fairways were in great shape, the greens not bad for summer.

Good course but no signature holes

Course was in good shape for the summer months. Pace of play was perfect. The only hang up is the lack of a signature hole or two. Just a basic desert course.

pace of play

It was slow play. we waiited on every shot the 2 groups in front us had players that should have been playing the jade tees, not the gold. Wish the Ranger would have stay with he group that was slowing us up to get them moving along.instead of asking them to pick it up.But none the less still one of the best courses in the valley and will continue to play.
