About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

Give it a Chance
I haven't played this course in a few year, so I was little taken back on a few things. First, the tees, fairways, and greens were pretty good....tee boxes were groomed nicely, some a little shaggy, but way better than dirt. Fairways were mostly nice, some mowed a little tighter than others...little adjustment needed. Greens are massive and roll very true and moderately fast. Downside to the course are the bunkers and any area that is not tees, fairways or greens. Extremely disappointed in the bunkers .... grass, rocks, etc...not bunkers, but rather waste areas. The asphalt cart paths have disappeared and areas area now muddy, dirty areas where doesn't grow. Outside service guy was good and very polite, but do me a favor next time, put out the cigarette before cleaning my clubs....almost choked to death. Worth the $60 in the fall and winter, but no more.
Nice Layout
Liked the layout. Some challenging par 3s. Roughs and immediated surrounding areas need attention. Cart paths need to be replaced. Fair price for the season.
Good value and day
$35 with cart, lovely day and under 4 hour round - our 2some didn't catch anyone nor anyone catch us - 11:52 tee off time.
Good, but rough around the edges
Tees, fairways and greens were ok, the rest of the course was rough, and they’ve given up on the fairway sand traps. The layout is wide open but greens were challenging. You’d have to try hard to lose a ball. We played in 3 hours and only played through one group, otherwise we were alone out there which was great. Price was really good, You’ll need a rangefinder or GPS as there are no yardage markers other than some 150 yard markers.
Beautiful course
The course was great. A little challenging but fun course. Staff was friendly definitely a course to play again.
Tee boxes/Greens/fairway fine - everything else not
Course needs a lot of help in the rough areas. You can be 10 feet off the fairway or 15 feet right of the green, and be in complete hard dirt lies. Lots of patchy hard grass. Fairway is fine. Lots of mud around the course, literally felt like I was on a slip and slide half the time. Don’t where white shoes here fellas
