Dell Urich again
DU is one our favorite city courses to play. Conditions are good even with the dry weather of the SW. Tee boxes and fairways are well maintained. Greens are very fast but true.
Pace of play was slow but it is nice to play a leisurely game once in a while without feeling like you have to run from one shot to another.
central location
This location has two 18 hole courses. Dell Urich and Randolph, both Tucson city owned courses. Last year the city contracted out a private company to run and manage the facility and since then the course has improved dramatically since the take over. Both courses are fun to play.
Nice course in great condition
Had a great time, staff was friendly and so were the other golfers
3.6133 stars
nice, tucson puts the average middle class midwestern golf in its city center. one can kind of forget theyre in the desert! no reason to leave st louis to play here!
Some Disappointments
The course if fine. Go play it. However, Randolph/Del Urich held a Veterans Appreciation Day on 11-11 offering $2 burgers and $2 draft beer. They closed the kitchen at 4PM thereby locking out anyone starting play after 12 noon. The beer was only for Lite beer. Also, GolfNow doubles the fees they charge on regular bookings on their Hot Deals making that not such a Hot Deal. All in all the day was disappointing.
Dell Urich
I did not actually get to play the course. They were mistakenly selling tee times up to the minute that they close (Sun down). So they did not let me tee off, though I had an hour before dark. They were very friendly about it, admitted the mistake and gave me an option for a rain check. I was able to check the course out and use the practice facilities. The course looked great! The putting green and chipping green were pristine. The driving range was fantastic. I am definitely going to head back that way add soon add I get the chance.
Great course in central area of city.
A great course an average player can enjoy, with enough challenge to keep it interesting. Wide variety of yardages requires using most clubs in your bag.
Good value
The course was in decent shape. It should be in great condition in another 2-3 weeks. The greens are a little slow but rolling true. Some small areas are still bare were the rye has not come up or no seed was laid, only in very dark/wet shady areas. Not really an issue as these spots are usually by the cart paths, etc.
Service is improving despite being told they are not going to use Golfnow in the future, probably just a reaction to them not finding my reservation in their system.
Nice
Dell Urich will be a great lace to lay his winter. Greens are pretty shaggy right now but will be better in a few weeks I am sure. Very slow. Cart path only so did not have the divot repair jugs with us out in the fairway. Overseeding was a success and course looks better than it has in years.
Excellent value
played 18 with a long time friend. Course condition was excellent, weather perfect, staff very friendly and helpful. This course is a great value.
Beverage Cart
The lady who was the beverage cart driver, was hilarious.
Late in the season
Course in good shape, fairways great, greens were a bit "grainey"
Golfing at Randolph park
This course was in excellent condition , the fairways were short and firm and the greens were manicured perfectly. The course was wide open and play was very enjoyable , the course was laidout perfectly and the landscape was beautiful. I can't wait to play there again! Oh and the price was $ 10 for 18 holes w/ cart and at 1 pm in the afternoon. Loving Golfnow and the dell ulrich course at Randolph
Improved conditions
With the improved conditions, playing this course was a pleasure but for one challenge. From the 2nd hole on, we had two or three mowing, blowing or other machines following along and were with us, in front of us, behind us or something on every hole. Then on 17, the two men with weed eaters were weed eating while we were putting and causing vegetation to be thrown on the green. Very distracting.
Golf at Del Urich
The course is beautiful even though the greens had just been aerated a week before.
North course in great shape
Haven't played this course in over 10 years. I was amazed what great shape the course was in for a city course.
Good value course
Enjoyed playing here, greens had been "punched" the day before so not able to evaluate them.
Liked this course best of city course I have played, Silverbell and Randolph North worth a visit.
Will play again when greens back to normal.
GOOD public course
We played Dell Urich for the first time........playing a core golf course with big mature (shady) trees in Tucson in June is a real treat........the course was in good condition, was an adequate challenge, and we will play it again.........probably try Randolph too.......the clubhouse was spacious, bright, clean, and the service was very good.
OB Sports Continues to do a Good Job
Urich was in really good shape again, yesterday. This has become the norm, and us locals appreciate it. The course is not overwhelming, and if you are on, a very low score can be had. It was exactly that for me-- and just what the doctor ordered, a real confidence builder. I like the risk/reward opportunities that are in abundance at Urich, but if you don't pull off the risky shots, you can find trouble (trees, uneven lies, water). The only drawback with yesterday's round was the slow play, but what would you expect from a mid-morning tee time on a Sunday? I would suggest that a marshal make an occasional appearance to shepherd some fellow golfers along, and maybe explain the concept of ready golf, though. Plus, a tutorial on the purpose of the rakes around the bunkers would be appreciated. These are minor points, however. My friends and I agree that the features of Urich are far superior to the North course, and we also agree that management is doing a terrific job maintaining things at all the city courses. With summer approaching and the competition for golf dollars heating up, keep throwing out those reasonably priced tee times, and we will keep coming.
