Course was in great shape!
Was cart path only which did not show on the time I selected on Golf Now.
Very enjoyable. New grass was nice.
For a public city owned course, this is exceptional.
Fun Layout
Dell Urich is consistenty the best muni in the Tucson area. Interesting course, adequately maintained (surely not pristine, but OK). Pace of play is sometimes an issue, but that can happen anywhere. Not particularly cheap, but priced fairly. Staff are consistently friendly.
I have played this course at least once a year for the last 10 yrs and always find it to be a great folfing experience.
It was a week before over seeding and found the course very playable. Staff and everyone involved were wonderful.
Randolf North
The greens were just over seeded. So somewhat sandy. The fairways are in good shape. Highly likely you will loose your ball in the rough it is slightly higher than the ball diameter.
Good Layout but the greens were very slow
I enjoyed the layout of the course and the fairways and greens were in good shape, but the speed of the greens were about as slow as I have ever played. I would not recommend playing this course based on the green speed.
Not bad for a city course
Overall the course was in good shape. My biggest issue was the greens were SLOW! Pace was ok. I recently played El Rio and it was in better shape.
needs work
Greens were slower than molasses, traps lack sand in some and its sad when standing in a trap it is as though you were standing on the cart path, poorly mowed, grass growing in some bunkers....Can't wait till it is sold to a company that cares!!!!!
Not bad...not great!
Pace okay given weekend. Course gets a ton of play. Carts are in need of overhaul. Rough is serious...maybe too much. The most disappointing were the greens...hard and scruffy...slow as snail speed and no where near lush. Layout okay for inner city golf and long par 4s from tips.
Not bad but not good
This course is wide open and allows you to play from all over the place. Some of the holes need some more attention paid to the fairways and the rough was so long you could barely find the ball. Greens felt really sandy and were slow, but I am guess that is because of the heat during the day. For $20 not a bad value but wouldn't pay any more than that to play it.
Del Urich needs TLC
Del Urich is a city owned and operated course. Budget constraints have taken a toll on this once remarkable layout. Before going further, keep in mind that it is late summer in the desert and our traditional monsoon rains have been scarce this year which undoubtedly affects the course condition.
The front nine were in relatively good condition with a few exceptions - notably, very damp muddy areas on a couple of fairways and green side bunkers that contained standing water. The back nine were much worse condition. The 12th hole fairway landing area had little grass and what was there was yellow or brown. Probably an irrigation problem that has not been fixed. Almost all of the greens on the back side were dry and appeared to be recently sanded. The 15th fairway had so many piles of grass cuttings that it seemed as if the entire area had been mulched. I hope that current conditions are an anomaly. In the past this course was immaculate and it's a shame that the city is unable to maintain the previous high standards.
Good course....but needs some attention
Good course but course needs some attention. Felt that fairway rough and rough around the fringe were too tall. Had to look for ball in areas barely off fairways and this took up playing pace. In addition, trimmings from previous mowings were just left on ground......ball hid under some of these trimmings much too often....causing another delay in play not to mention the mesquito haven!!! Great staff and will play course again if my buddies pay.....just kidding...thanks
del Urich Sunday 7/21
Excellent pace of play 3hrs 55 mins....course is in great shape overall! Greens were a little bumpy and quite slow, but consistent throughout. A great morning....
Course need help!
The fairways were spotty, bunkers in many instances were hard pan, and greens were bumpy and slow. Had the course to ourselves. Still is a great location and has some of the more scenic holes with the Catalina Mtns. in the background!! Fred Enke Golf Course is in far better condition of the Tucson City Golf courses.
Greens were horrible and fairways not mowed.
Were told greens were awaiting to be aerated, but the course has never looked so bad. The fairways are usually nice, but this Saturday they appeared not mowed and long.
Standard muni w/standard problems
Slow play, lots of eyesores with some course features, ie lots of trash in ponds, areas that needed to be labeled as GUR & just needs a small facelift in order to become a great muni track.
I've seen this course in much better condition & hate to see it looking this way. The staff seems to be somewhat out of touch w/what is going on w/their course.
Overall it can look & play much better than it did today. This is why I do not recommend this course in it's current condition. BTW, the greens were punched & sanded which was not advertised.
You have to work the ball right and left to score
I like both courses, Randolph and Del Urich. I would rather play .Del Urich. I must like both courses, because I drive down from Florence every Summer to play these courses Both courses have greens with lots of undulation. If you can't read greens you are in heap big trouble. I hope this is 50 words
