About
Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Great course - just slow
First time playing here. Great course, the greens were really fast. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Only wish the marshal would have speed people up or permitted us to play through. Group of 4 in front of us were super slow, we waiting 15 minutes on one hole to even tee off. This course is in a retirement area, I’m 40 and was probably the youngest person there by 20-30 years….
Nice
First arrived and they were busy, golfers lining up to start, was worried it was going to be slow playing but was never an issue. Fairways are in good shape, greens were inconsistent, some fast some slow. Fairways are fairly wide so don't need to worry too much about hitting out of bounds. Plenty of trees throughout the course. There are a few par 3 water holes. Weather was absolutely perfect, Another good day golfing...
Busy, and a bit rough
Greens nice (fast and smooth) ball marks an issue on the short par threes. Reseeding relatively successful this year with some bare areas and bumpiness. Bad lies, tree debris, and leaves common as you play in the bosque.
Course was busy and play was slow. This is common on weekends as they host many events. Bar restaurant good (prices noticeably have gone up). Country club atmosphere, friendly staff.
Great park style layout that runs through the wash bottomland, constantly seems to need attention, when good, a fun place to tee it up.
Could of paid more somewhere else but would not of enjoyed it more
Very busy when we arrived with tournament start. Staff was very busy but took time to make sure we were set by answering our questions and getting us out.
Greens are little thin in areas, however they rolled smoothly.
19th hole was exceptional for a public course.
No doubt I’d return, and will recommend to anyone.
You put me out with 3 local boys that made the afternoon very enjoyable.

Great day - great desert course
Everyone was accommodating, the course was in great shape - no waiting - played the 18 holes in 4hours.
Windy
Super windy for the most part of the day, unexpectedly. Course was in decent shape; some holes were cart path only (not sure why as the fairways all appeared to be in the same condition). Greens were in good shape. There were a lot of single golfers so pace of play was somewhat rushed. You can tell they are spending some time and money to keep this course in good shape.
49 club
Great course fair pace 4 hrs for 18..
Course and green s in good lush conditions, a tad wet in areas from irrigation. We played at 1 pm on a warm day.. staff were pleasant and professional.
We did the restaurant afterwards with a pitcher of beer.. $20. Overall good value. This makes my 2nd AZ golf experience.

Course has improved
We struggled with the conditions of the course last year, but this year it’s apparent they have worked har dot make improvements. Greens are still a little Sandy after overseeing but running true. Still some tough spots on the tee boxes and a few fairways, but have top dressed to help improve. Would play it again.
Nice course - but the overseeding made for lots of mud on the ball.
