Forty-Niner Country Club

I always like playing at this little bit of Tucson history. It has nice practice facilities, a friendly staff, and a comfortable bar/restaurant. The course is in decent shape now after over seeding (although there were some rough spots in the fairways where the sprinkler system could use repair) and provides just enough challenge without much elevation change. The pacing can be hit or miss due to beginner play or, as in our case, cart path only restrictions. We walked as we like to do, but waited a lot as people ahead walked back and forth to their carts. Realize when walking that there is at times quite a distance between the last green and the next tee since the course and cart path wind their way through the neighborhood. A rather long course to walk.

The average rating is due to the overseeding of the course; otherwise, we always like to play here. Again due to the overseeding, the greens played much slower than normal. Great bargain when we played because of the overseeding.

Had another great round. Course was pretty good considering it was the last day before overseed. Played with some great guys!

No one to speed up this pace of play starter even allowed someone to go off as a fivesome. 5 1/2 hour round is unacceptable.

We are a twosome and we get paired with the greatest people. Had some much fun with Dave and Dr . Jeff!

Thank you to the great people at the 49er Course. The employees were just great. Friendly, welcoming, and start time was right on. We are a couple, play many courses and love the game and are positive and pleasant.

We did get off to a rocky start, as we (unfortunately) got paired with a man who was just an unhappy man. Grouchy, and let us know he wasn't please to be playing with us. And we hit the ball straight and enjoy life in a positive way. On hole 2 he finally reached the green, and after a missed put had about a foot left. I told him it was good, and he snapped. Nasty man. I asked him to just get in his cart, and move along, that we were not interested in having his company poison our day....and off he went. Then things blossomed, the birds started singing again, and all was wonderful in the world. The course is being prepared for overseeding, but was in surprisingly good condition. The greens were fast and true, and my girlfriend and I are eager to play this course again when it is ready again.

Love this coarse and the staff is the most friendly around .

The course is not in good shape. Needs a lot of TLC.

New carts are nice. The food is good as usual.

Staff is friendly.

Lots of bare spots and greens are not very nice. Some tee boxes were in rough shape. Traps were like concrete.

Pace was slow and with the conditions of the course we played only 9, had nice lunch and went home.

This is my favorite course in Tucson. Not the easiest, a lot of dog legs makes it more challenging, fast greens, needs a Marshall

Front nine tee boxes, fairways, & greens very dry and inconsistent. Back nine appeared to have been watered recently, which made playability better. Bunkers were terrible with hard pan for sand and in some cases muddy. The course is good, but conditions could have been much better.

Maybe aeriation and course maintenance are coming? Hope so. Will hold off playing again to see how things go at the course.
