Forty-Niner Country Club

I have not played here for about 4 months. I was a bit surprised to see the course maintenance go down. Couple of notches. The greens were ver inconsistent and the speed differed from.hole to hole.

I won’t be back until I hear a positive report from fellow golfers.

49r is not far; it's just deep on the east side of Tucson through street traffic almost to Reddington pass. But that puts it in a nice flat valley with nice mountain views. I would walk it if it weren't far between 7/18 holes. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. Fairways were bare in spots and the greens were rough and bumpy in spots. But overall condition was good.

The sun was shining, birds were singing and palm trees were blowing in the breeze. The greens were lightning fast and the sand in the traps was sufficient for sand shots. The cart lady was very friendly as was the fine gentleman who is the starter. The ice water at the start with a refill at the turn was very nice on a very hot day. If I didn't have a wonderful day, it would have been my own fault. Thank you 49R.

2 groups a head of us were very slow so from 5th hole on our group and group ahead of us where waiting on every hole we both had four some ‘s and the slow group was only a three some thus close to a 5 hour round

Pace of play was so bad we all quit after nine holes. Starter was agressive and belittling was a real jerk to the Canadian i was playing with.

The course was much too dry. It was difficult to get a tee into the ground. The fairways were too dry and the ball ran and ran. The greens were the most unplayable that I have seen this year - no grass, just shaved down to the top of the roots. Greens would not hold even a high, spinning lob shot. Won't play here again until they get it fixed.

Course layout was a surprise. Holes were challenging and creatively weaved it's way around the course. I liked how the trees lined the majority of fairways, as well as having space to punch errant balls out. Sand traps had sufficient sand depth, and came out as actual sand blasts, not skulled shanks. I look forward to playing again.

Always disappointed where the course is poorly maintained. I had low expectations when I booked the tee time. At 49er, I always watch out for wild cows when standing in the fairways. Cow pastures normally contain cows.
