Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Poor conditions, terrible practice facilities, food is overpriced

You can hit good putts all day and not make a thing. What's the point of playing golf if you can't score? Sure it's cheap, $20 but for the same price I can play one of the city courses which aren't in great shape either but they are getting better and are still better than 49er. The course layout is ridiculous, OB on every hole left and right and behind every green and its very narrow. If you are a long hitter you basically hit 4 iron off almost every tee box. So if you want a narrow, penalizing, and boring golf course that's in terrible shape go play 49ers because you get what you pay for.

Great money value and experience. Staff was friendly and we went when the course wasn’t packed. Great for anyone who wants to learn how to play or go for their first round of 18. Restaurant was perfect for post-round lunch and brew

Had a good time playing on this course. The greens were a little dull but other than that no complaints. Great staff, great course and a good time of golf.

It’s worth the drive

We live an hour away but have heard so much good about this course we had to try it., It being summer time in Az the greens were a little rough but was good practice. We’ll definitely be back again.

Bare ground

Greens plugged and dressed made it difficult to hole much. Bare areas, tees especially. Rains will help, but time also needed to fill things in.

Good value, nice post round, friendly staff.

Summer golf in an early pre- monsoon Tucson.
