Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Great Old School Design
The layout is excellent, and we completed the round in under four hours. The staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Course was ok. Kinda rough shape but fine to play. I believe we paid just under 40. value was a little below par. Bunkers are hard as rock and if you are off the fairway you’re playing from dirt. Not much grass to speak of.
Great course... but
Great course, players ahead were quite slow... but that happens. Unfortunately on the back 9, the sprinklers came on at the 16th hole??, making it difficult to play and/or retrieve your ball. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
Poor condition for the price
Played with 3 buddies and they did let us tee off before 8 people which was nice and the round was quick but the overall course was in pretty poor condition. Every tee box was in different shape (some hard and some wet), fairways weren't to nice and the greens were rock solid. I’d pay the extra money to play a better course.
Thoroughly enjoyed the day!
Employees were all friendly and efficient.
