About
Situated between the Catalina and Rincon Mountains, Forty Niner Country Club runs alongside a wooded riverbed. The golf course features fairways lined with mesquites, giant cottonwoods, eucalyptus trees, and weeping willows. Desert shrubbery also lines the fairways. The course has a traditional layout that sprawls across gently rolling terrain. It's a nice walkable golf course but it's not easy. Rather than distance, this course requires accurate shot placement and careful strategy in order to maneuver the tricky doglegs and subtly elevated greens. The most difficult hole on the course comes early on. The par-4 fifth is an only seemingly narrow hole but the double-tiered green has a dramatic slope right in the center. Forty Niner Country Club finishes with a par 3 that requires a carry over water. If played smartly, it offers a great birdie opportunity.

Love the 49er
This is my second time playing here and it was much better than the first, but only because of the weather. This time it was a nice 75 degrees with tons of action. I joined a pair and we had a blast. I love the course and the neighborhood. The club house provides great service and has good food. I will definitely be coming back for my third visit.
Great day
Played with my Wife and son. Got joined by a very nice young airman. Had a great time . Pace of player was good. Course is in good shape.
Only 16
The course was overbooked. We waited at every hole. It took 5 hours to play only 16. On 18 there were three foursomes on the T-Box and another foursome on the green. Where was the ranger all day? Terrible course management.
Pace of Play
The tee times must have been over booked. I understand it was a weekend after the holidays, but we were 45 min delayed for our tee time and had so many groups in front of us that we could not finish all 18 holes before losing sunlight.
Always a Challenge
Lightning fast greens sloping back to front make it a real challenge to score well. Pars, to me, are an accomplishment here. There is a good variety in shapes and types of holes with water and trees coming into play. The beauty of the trees along the fairways is second to none. The staff are kind and helpful, especially Kenny, the starter who is very welcoming. Enjoy and leave the frustration at home.
