Crooked Tree Golf Course

Breezed thru front 9 in 1.5 hr. As a a2 some we got behing foursome on back who had 2 hole gap ahead and wouldn't let us thru, so we cut in early skipping 1 1/2 holes. Fairways in great shape. Greens slowest I can ever recall playing in Tucson. If beyond 15 feet, put putter away and use your 3 wood to putt.

Play this course may once a month. Normally in pretty good condition however, re-seeding was recently done and greens bumpy with long grass. My son & I decided to go with automatic 2 putts. If you want play this course I would suggest waiting for about 3-4 weeks for the greens to improve.

Terrible course conditions. They had to use white lines to outline the greens to differentiate them from the fairways. The bunkers were full of rocks. The layout itself is flat and uninspiring.

On a positive note, it took less than 2 1/2 hours to play following a threesome the whole time. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Overall, I can't recommend this course. There are so many other courses in the area in the same price range with better conditions and better scenery.

greens cut at the same height as the fairway. First round ever played that i never used a putter. Used my hybrid to putt all day long.

Give it another three weeks and might be better.

If you like to play on concrete fairways and weeds on the green, this course is for you! It cost as much as some of the much nicer courses in the area so... not recommended!

Fairways & greens nearly dead, like playing in a cow pasture, should be closed until conditions improve, left with 3 holes to go due to huge backup & terrible conditions

Dried up greens tee boxes so hard you couldn't put your teas in the ground, fairways dried up. Course overall in a terrible shape. Staff members at the pro shop should have been embarrassed to charge $30 to play golf there that day.

Love this course. It was time of year I was warned but they should just close it.

Course was in terrible condition, greens were brown & bare, like putting in a cow pasture, no sand in bunkers, County should be embarrassed to charge a fee to play here. If in the process of rehab it should be shut down

Crooked Tree affords golfers a unique opportunity to pull out driver and give the ball a good smash with wide open fairways that so many other Tucson area courses just don't. An overly faded ball can still be in play on many holes without fear of striking homes or getting lost in the desert

But don't be fooled by an inviting layout off the tee. The approaches here are among the most challenging I've played. Small, elevated, undulating greens are surrounded by rocky pothole bunkers. This course will humble you quickly and teach you that you are not what you thought you were with your wedges and putters. You may find it better for your scorecard to simply lay up more than once and play for bogey rather than go for gold and get trapped in an obstacle. I'm not a great golfer but have been averaging 25-30 over par and shot 117 here, my highest score since taking up golf again. I still managed 2 pars but had a couple of "disaster" holes that I just couldn't find the green or the cup. That is my fault and not the course's though. I also played from the white tees often but went up to the gold on a few.

The layout of the course is among the best I've played with a natural flow from hole to hole. The pace was fantastic and I never had an issue. I finished my round of 18 in 2 hours and 40 mins, and that is including searching for balls and letting another player play through. If I played full speed I would have been done in 2 hours which is incredible. But it was a very hot day so I pulled back the throttle a hair.

The course was scalped for overseeding but I was warned in advance. This didn't pose too much of an issue. It made putting a unique challenge as the greens were mostly hard dirt but I didn't mind.

Staff was very kind, courteous and welcoming.

My one suggestion would be to include maps on the scorecard or at least have a map of the hole on the signs at the tee box. A few shots are "blind" and having never played this course before, I had no idea where the hole was or what hidden hazards there may be on the way be so I had to play a conservative hybrid on some holes from the tee.

Overall, I greatly enjoyed my round at Crooked Tree and would play there regularly if it simply wasn't far from me. It was a refreshing change of scenery with a great staff. I will surely be back soon.

We were forewarned that the course had been scalped in preparation for reseeding. The greens were the hardest to read but we still got to hit the ball! That's golf!

We usually like playing this course but we were a bit disappointed this time. While we purchased 18 holes we had to play the front nine twice as they were over seeding that back nine. I wouldn't have minded so much, but we didn't know that until we got to the course. They had already done the scalping and over seeding it seemed for the front nine as they were very short and brown., they played fast but that was OK. Having to play the same holes over again on the same day, not so much fun. Just wish there had been some notification as we may not have played here today and waited until all 18 holes were open again.

The Clubhouse person was nice and friendly, just wanted to call attention to that!

We will go back but will wait a few weeks to see how the greens are.

Played to day and the course was completely shaved down and dried out. I understand its about time to overseed but the course provided no warnings to to golfers online or when you called the course to book a tee time. No information provided on the course conditions.
