About

Type Resort

Length 6951 yards
Slope 141
Rating 73.7

The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Incredible

Pristine greens despite the heat. Unbelievable interaction with wildlife. The coyote, Frank, was relaxing 15ft from the driving range; roadrunners and Jack rabbits were seen at literally every tee box. Great value.

Starr Pass is ok

Well they ruined a great 18 hole course to squeeze in 27. I played the old TPC Starpass 30 years ago and it was great most of the holes are still there but its really kind of boring now lots of non driver holes and many that feel like they are the same 380 to 430 yard par 4 on repeat. I also played the other nine which is the old back 9 and it was still roughly the same but $45 to ride an extra 9 after paying for 18 is excessive I paid 60 to play 18 and they charge $45 for an additional 9 in 105 degree heat you would think you would get a decent deal considering it is extra revenue in the heat of summer on an empty golf course. Lots of blind shots and strange tee box locations from the back and no directional signage and multiple times you hit drives over residential streets and have to wait for cars or stop and back off so a car can pass. The new holes are pretty bland either wedge approach or short par 4 drive and chip.

Star Pass Coyote

Very nice , but $25/person for a golf cart is pretty steep.

Amazing course with great care taken for playability

I’m not the wealthiest person in the world, but when I pay for an experience like this it does make me feel that way. The staff was amazing, the off course amenities were placed and maintained with great attention to detail. The course itself was gorgeous, and very well kept. And to top it all off there was so much natural desert wildlife enjoying themselves on and off the course.

Course is in excellent condition. 3 hr 20 min round. Challenging layout, a few blind shots. Wildlife: roadrunners, coyotes and deer (no rattlers spotted).

Emphasis on golf

Played mid day, no waiting. Conditions good, bunkers excellent, green complex’s a bit soft, but greens were just right firm. Speedy but not unfair.

They’ve painted some fairways but doesn’t effect play. Staff is accommodating (not overly outgoing). No 1st tee starter (as in the past) so cut backs apparent. Drink cart prices on the high side. Didn’t go inside for post round activities.

No major wildlife sightings, usually an attraction.

Good golf worth the extra price, works to be a bit “toney” but no oppressively so. A fun day overall.
