About

Type Resort
Par 73
Length 6951 yards
Slope 141
Rating 73.7

The Club at Starr Pass offers 27 holes of championship golf that have been host to legends such as Arnold Palmer and Phil Mickelson. The holes are divided into three nines that are played in three different 18-hole combinations. One of these combinations is Coyote/Roadrunner. Coyote is the club's signature course and while the Roadrunner nine might be the shortest, it has plenty of elevation changes. Both golf courses are carved from the scenic Tucson Mountains, providing golfers with a diverse landscape that is abundant with jackrabbits, quail, and deer. In addition to the three nines, there is also a double-loaded driving range and a practice area with putting and chipping greens.

Good course

My first time in Tucson and first time on the course. Good desert course with beautiful views and lots of wildlife, including a pack of Javelinas who let us play through

Great course IF you can find it for $50-60. And you can

The greens appear patchy with various colors of grass but they are cut smooth and roll true. Keep the ball on the course and the course is very playable. Personally I hate the 1st hole. I've hit that green most times I've played it (8-10 times) but never have I gotten a GIR. This day hit it 10-12 feet onto the green....didn't matter ended rolling down down down and left with a steep uphill 80 ft. Chip. Hate it and think the course should address that super false front that appears to take up 30% of the green. And honest, my only real criticism.

Take your medicine

A challenging course, greens were fabulous. Playing first time took my medicine with some blind shots and runouts but just part of playing a top level course. Practice facilities nice and homes were well off the course and out of the way.

Fantastic course layout with great views of the valley.

Very nice fairways with generous landing areas. Greens looked a little sketchy but they putted well. No food service which was a big disappointment although there was a cart girl with snacks.

Starr Pass

This course is incredible. Definitely worth the price. Fairways and greens in premier condition. Layout of course very fun and challenging. The only negative is the guy in the clubhouse who checked us in acted like he’d wish we weren’t there bothering him. Also bar was closed so we couldn’t enjoy a beverage after the round. Only open on weekends. Will play this course again because it was in great shape, challenging and pace of play was perfect. Never waited to tee off on any hole.

Walked

Howlin on the Coyote

Took advantage of Golf Now $30 buck per person walking greens fee on the very scenic, fun, and perfectly manicured Coyote 9. Thoughtful location and selection of tee boxes for varying ability levels--we played from the 3100 yard silver Tees and had a blast ! Now, for 25 bucks per person additional cart fee it's not such a good deal. Course has some significant elevation changes and is a fairly rigorous walk so be prepared.

Play the appropriate tees for more fun.

I would classify myself as a sporty 4 handicap. We played the black tees on Rattler / Roadrunner which was supposed to be 6400 yards. I shot 79 with 6 penalty strokes because of not understanding correct lines.

I had two older gentleman w me and some of those 200 yard force carry shots were extremely difficult for those guys. The track is really good but I would play a tee or two up until you are comfortable with the optics of the course.

It well very fairly priced for Arizona in January. Course was in great shape.

Bogey Golfer

Too many blind tee shots for the first round played here. Some fairways were not even visible from the tee boxes. Almost every shot from the fairway was from an uneven lie. Without direction from playing partner, some holes would have been unplayable for a bogey golfer like myself as hazards were not always visible when hitting. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great range and putting green.

Great round except for the 40 minute downpour

Starr Pass is a great golf course. Not for beginners , as you need to elevate the ball in numerous occasions. Course layout is challenging and very scenic. Course conditions were very good, greens rolled fast. Only problem was it poured for 40 minutes, so we had to sit in our cart on the 6th hole (not too much shelter available). After the rain the greens held better but were considerably slower. Even with the 40 minute rain delay we finished the round in under 4 hours. Bag attendants could have been a little more inviting, (had to unload our bag to the cart ourselves), but the starter was great.
