The Club at Starr Pass - Gambler/Pioneer

StarrPass is my go to golf course because of all the reasons listed in my comments. Staff, service, course and amenities(maybe keep the 19th hole opened for last minute bites). Playing well helps as well. Overall, excellent experience.

Course was in very good shape! The only negative thing was the greens. They were true putting but the greens had a lot of brown grass. It looked like the over seed didn’t take in some areas

Only able to play 14 holes in 4 hours.

Cards called in 20 minutes before sundown. Not impressed.

I like the layout of the course. Play can be slow depending on the quality of the players in front of you. Maybe a little more spacing would help. Greens were a little rough for the price. At least they were partially open for Christmas. The Clubhouse is under renovation. The grill was open last year but not this year.

Since Troon manages this course, there has been a significant improvement in conditions & facilities.

Greens were spotty. Have never seen them like that before. Fairways were nice. Many deer. No cups in cart for water. No indoor bathrooms…outside was nasty. Group in front of us teed off 7 minutes late. We waited virtually every hole. Weather was perfect! Don’t know if I’d return. Thanks.

This is a great course to play. However, the pace of play was very slow. The clubhouse says 4.5- 5 hours to play is normal. That is very slow. If they would put a marshall on the course to keep the slow groups moving, would make a huge difference. But the course seems understaffed and not willing to make the pace of play better.

A great layout and in perfect condition. I would play this every week if I lived in Tucson. Can’t wait for the clubhouse renovation to be completed..

Greens were inconsistent and had a lot of ball marks.

Either golfers need to do a better job fixing ball marks or they need to be rolled?
