Totally enjoyed playing Carmel Valley Ranch for the first time. Very good and difficult course for the somewhat short yardage from the back tees. The course was in great condition. The fairways seemed that one could putt on them. The greens are like putting on glass and local knowledge a must for reading the breaks.

The staff was extremely friendly and seem to be very customer focused.

Definitely will return.

This course has a great back 9

Awesome s course. Short course so there are great scoring opportunities. Back 9 is great a lot of elevated tee and blind shots.

Fun Course in the Valley

Played Carmel Ranch in some rather soggy conditions, but overall conditions were good compared to neighboring courses. Greens were excellent.

Course is a fun track with the back nine providing spectacular views from several tee boxes. Overall, a short course, but greens and water hazards provide for additional challenge.

A Bucket list course for sure...

First lets start with the staff....They are incredible and make you feel like a welcome guest as soon as you encounter someone, the food is amazing(We had the fish taco's).Now for the course.....Hard to explain how perfect the course is even with this drought, the groundskeeper is obviously a magician. The only flaw what so ever was people who were lazy and not replacing or filling there divots(I come across this a lot on nice courses were people feel its not there obligation because they paid good money to play, well HELLO the course will only stay this nice if you help keep it that way!Fairways were as nice as some greens I've played and the greens........PGA worthy and will make you curse at times because they roll so true and fast.I look forward to playing here again someday but its out of my regular price range for a weekly course.Absolutely picture perfect!

Great scoring course

The monterey Peninsula is full of great courses. Unfortunately it also has its share of average courses that jack up the price just because it's Monterey. CV Ranch is a great course. Well manicured from tee to green. This is a great scoring course for mid handicappers. Course plays short giving average hitters plenty of opportunity to hit short irons on approach shots. Par 3's range from wedges to hybrids with one having the green guarded by water on two sides to offer plenty of challenge. Greens roll nice and smooth.

Pete Dye at his best & worst

Front nine is challenging but playable; back nine borders on unplayable with extreme hills & blind shots. Need to play more than once to know what to do - this was my first time & I was lost even though I am an accomplished player. Nice views on back nine.

A very nice resort course

The course is a little shorter than I expected it to be. Pete dye is at work on the greens, if you miss by a little you are in a tough spot. Back nine more scenic and longer than the front.

People very nice. Pricing for food and beverage is two tiered: members and others. Guess who pays a lot more. A little bothersome.

Excellent!

Everything written about the friendly and excellent staff is true. Everyone is super down to earth. My 2nd time playing and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The superstar is the back 9. I played it twice last year when they aerated the front and I didn't realize how lucky I was! No disrespect to the front nine which is fine but he back is where it's at! Wish that the prices were a little more reasonable so I could play it more often. Pace of play was great and when there was a little trip up, the staff was all over it and everything smoothed out just fine. Check it out!

Course was great, Staff was friendly. Food at Lunch was good service was terrible. Could not get a refill on drinks. Had to ask for the check. Felt like we did not even exist with the waiters.

Carmel Valley in the Sun

A wonderful day at the ranch. Weather was good and the staff were super friendly. The greens were in in great shape and the fairways were good. Quite a few non repaired divots in the fairway but other then that the course was in a great condition.
Enjoyed lunch there which was good as well.

Beautiful Golf Experience

Course was in great shape, staff was friendly. It had been over 20 years since I played the original Pete Dye design. The recent changes make the course more playable and really fun for all skill levels.
I look forward to my next trip.

Great Day!

Greens were punched recently but new technology make them extremely playable. Greens were quick and true, and also held shots very well. My only gripe is the layout of the first 3 holes (which are tight; hybrid and wedge par 4s), but after that the course plays great. Wonderful day on a very nice track!

Fun Course.... overpriced

Interesting and fun course. Beside the infrequent lockup of the cart with GPS off trail issue (especially 8th hole) it was a fun day. Crowded July 3rd Friday Holiday so pace of play bottleneck a few times. (holiday weekend). Staff was congenial or downright friendly. Rate should be closer to $65 than $125. Some construction or I'd give the overall facility excellent.

Great course with challenging and varied holes

Played this course to escape the damp, cold, windy weather on the Monterey Peninsula. The course is semi-private, but the staff and members were welcoming and friendly. Nice driving range with piles of balls for practice at no charge. Short game practice area was good. Minor construction between holes 8 and 9 did not impact my weekend play. Really enjoyed playing the course, which was in good shape. Course climbs up the surrounding hills and provides some great views. The holes are varied with different challenges, making it quite fun. Will definitely play here next time I am in Carmel area.

Horrible

Horrible is kind. This course is not cheap, well over a $100 a round and wants you to think it is a top golf course. IT IS NOT! There is major construction going on all over course, very, very noisy. Very hard to play golf with heavy equipment everywhere. . Really. DIRT AND POOR CART PATHS AND DETOURS. No warning. The course doesn't care about quality of golf, just money. Also some fancy gps, but it keeps telling you to get back on cart path when you are On the cart path. Very annoying! The cart goes super slow when that happens, messing with your timing and pace of play(5hrs). Very bad. Not a good golf course, don't be fooled. You can play good courses near by for 1/4 the price, and HAVE FUN! SAD. I suggested free lunch, hotdog and soda, and management laughed, and wanted me to be quite. They don't want people to know. Plus many other issues. Really Horrible. NO EXCUSE. PLAY ELSEWHERE!
