DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge
About
Perched in the hills above Santa Cruz, DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge features plenty of elevation changes as well as tight, tree-lined fairways making this short layout anything but a cinch. The result of the tight layout, however, often translates into long rounds as higher handicappers look for their golf balls in the woods. Designed by Bert Stamps, the golf course opened in 1970. Conditioning is average, but DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge's green fees are a small fraction of its more famous neighbors.

Loved This Course!
My husband and I played this course for the first time and we both loved it. It was challenging, but not too difficult. The course is surrounded by a variety of different trees and shrubs. Each hole has it's own uniqueness which makes it a fun and enjoyable course to play. The amenities are great and the food is very good. We are looking forward to playing there again.
Tues afternoon round at DLV
Great local course with great greens. Only ocean view is on #17 blue tee but an interesting layout. I shot a 85 with a few errant drives. Many holes here require a 200 to 210 yard tee shot due to dog legs. The greens were in fabulous shape. Great deal on Golf now made my day $20. Great course even for top price of $50.
Great location really bad greens.
Played this course on Saturday with my son great location great views but it's a shame that the greens are so bad with some fungus that you cannot hit a pot without it bumping all over the place offline. I figured for a hundred bucks it should be in a lot better condition.
the cause is in a great location.
Greens were a little bumpy. Need to keep your ball on the narrow fairways.
Beautiful and Challenging Course
A beautiful golf course surrounded by woods and canyons - not a single house in sight. Every hole is different and most require placing your ball in the right place off the tee - so leaving driver in the bag on most holes is the wise play. An enjoyable walk with deer, turkeys and other wildlife roaming around - plenty of birds singing in the trees. Toast your round on the patio overlooking the 18th hole and enjoy a delicious and hearty lunch and/or a cold beverage of your choice. All in all a delightful place with friendly and knowledgeable staff who make you feel right at home!
perfect day
perfect day to play golf, pace was a little slow, alot of walkers. always a fun coarse to play
Not worth the price
Great course as I've played here many times over the years, but this is a muni course that is way over priced for what you get. I'm sure some of the conditions are due to the drought, but just don't feel it's worth paying more than $45-$50. Greens were in good condition.
This course is fun to play
because it has some challenging holes. Many elevation changes. Some greens recently aerated.
Beautiful Santa Cruz, forest course
Gorgeous day, fast greens, good condition and challenging layout. Bring our best game - you'll love the course and vistas.
TigertT
Conditions are ok. The sceneries are beautiful. Nice trees. Greens are good. Fairways are just ok
Well maintained course
Greens and fairways are in good condition consider that we are in drought. Better than a lot of courses I have played. Nice driving range and practice greens.
Good bar
Nice course friendly, challenging but fair, good condition
Good course in Santa Cruze
On our way to San Francisco we stayed a few days in the former hippy capital of California. They have a few courses, but delaveaga is value for the miney spent. Fairways were only average, but the greens were good and fast.
The course itself is challenging, but not overly difficult.
We enjoyed our roundwhich we could do in under 4 hours.
Conditions good
The round of golf was very enjoyable taking in consideration the drought conditions of California.
The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. I would recommend playing this course.
Rough and narrow
The fairways are dry with plenty of bad lies for your golf ball. The course has difficult par 3's from the blue tee with lots of trees and barancas to overcome. The greens are in pretty good shape though. The fairways are generally very narrow and not forgiving if you don't hit the ball straight.
First time here
Gorgeous course! Only problem is the drought is taking its toll on the fairways. If it gets worse I would suggest a free fee reduction 30-35 dollar range. Greens are challenging and the par 3's can kill your momentum after a few errant shots into the forest lol.
A must play if you haven't played here before
Beautiful coure
Great course! It was in great condition yesterday despite the serious drought that CA has had for the last several years...
Its been a long time
The last time I played this course was over 20 years ago, I have wanted to go back ever since. This course is perhaps one on the best in the Monterey area, all things considered. Golfnow makes this reasonable, and that's perhaps the only thing I would have an issue with... The cost. I will go back soon and often. Loved it.
