DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge
About
Perched in the hills above Santa Cruz, DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge features plenty of elevation changes as well as tight, tree-lined fairways making this short layout anything but a cinch. The result of the tight layout, however, often translates into long rounds as higher handicappers look for their golf balls in the woods. Designed by Bert Stamps, the golf course opened in 1970. Conditioning is average, but DeLaveaga Golf Course & Lodge's green fees are a small fraction of its more famous neighbors.

Great course.
Beautiful Very challenging. But way to much recent rain. Just bad timing. Great course.
Too wet to play
This course is still way too wet to play. You may have to wait at least two weeks with no rain to get in a quality round here. I lost so many balls, not from bad shots, but from plugged shots in the fairway. Also, there are little white dandelions all over the course which makes it difficult to find balls.
If you do go out, it's currently cart path only. Beware of hole number 7 as there appears to be a cart path that turns left towards the middle of the fairway only to dead in about 100 yards in. I took that path only to have the marshal tell me later to be sure to stay on the cart path. "I thought I was." All in all, the course could be decent when it's not wet and when mowed.
Wet and muddy
After several days of rain obviously I knew there would be some areas that would be fairly wet. However, pretty much the entire course was mud. Terrible drainage on this course. Perfect shots in the fairway were getting plugged deep and couldn't find them.
winter golf is difficult!
Course is in good shape in spite of the rain, but winter golf is hard! Pace of play was slow and the clubhouse staff must have been new. Got dropped from starting list! Started 1/2 hr late.
Round took almost 5 hrs...couldn't finish.
Awesome Par 3's!!!
I had an opportunity to play this course on a wet rainy weekday. Very few bothered to go out. But I braved the weather and was rewarded by really nice par 3 holes on this course. It was cart path only for obvious reasons. But since no one was out I finished in 2 1/2 hrs. Plenty of parking, a driving range nearby. A couple of implausible holes like 10th. Great finishing hole 18th. Too soaked and muddy to try the restaurant maybe next time.
Great Value
It was a no hassle experience confirming and processing my order. I liked that the golf course confirmed my order by email so there was no questions about the terms. Great experience
This course was good for the money
Was paired up with a great couple and had a good day
Great walk and good greens
Dela has been 1 of my favorites. I would join the membership if they had a better rate for county residents who support from property tax to local taxes as well as local goods and services patronize. Even with the county card i find other courses to be more competitive. You would think the city would give a better break as they may lise some in revenue but make it many more times in the volume. Its sad i cant play there more often due to this! Otherwise good course
Good condition and greens were great
Had a nice round good pace and friendly staff, only complant was snack shack was closes on a Sunday, not good

Fun course- some narrow fairways- some bunkers good, some were like concrete. some greens were quick and some were not . very enjoyable round
Very different layout
My wife and I played it and enjoyed it very much. Some difficult holes, especially par 5s. Landing zones in good shape, as well as tees and green's. Well worth the money.
Terrible pace of play
So I've played this course a few times before writing this review. This has been the slowest pace of play every single time I've been here. I mean abysmally slow. As in you could stick a golf course on a retirement home and let them walk the course in fivesomes and it would still be faster than here. The fairways are also in not so great shape. I get that it's dry but if I hit a fairway smack dab in the middle I shouldn't have to play on dirt. For the same price take an extra drive down and play Laguna seca golf ranch. The course needs to hire marshals and keep the pace of play up. There is no reason to stand on a tee 15 minutes every time. On the bright side the staff is friendly and the greens are in good shape.

Like playing there , it's a hard course
Loved This Course!
My husband and I played this course for the first time and we both loved it. It was challenging, but not too difficult. The course is surrounded by a variety of different trees and shrubs. Each hole has it's own uniqueness which makes it a fun and enjoyable course to play. The amenities are great and the food is very good. We are looking forward to playing there again.
Tues afternoon round at DLV
Great local course with great greens. Only ocean view is on #17 blue tee but an interesting layout. I shot a 85 with a few errant drives. Many holes here require a 200 to 210 yard tee shot due to dog legs. The greens were in fabulous shape. Great deal on Golf now made my day $20. Great course even for top price of $50.
Great location really bad greens.
Played this course on Saturday with my son great location great views but it's a shame that the greens are so bad with some fungus that you cannot hit a pot without it bumping all over the place offline. I figured for a hundred bucks it should be in a lot better condition.
the cause is in a great location.
Greens were a little bumpy. Need to keep your ball on the narrow fairways.
