Black Horse at Bayonet/Black Horse Golf Course

Be prepared to hit a lot of tight lies. Watch your step outside the fairways; gophers must drive tractors given the size of some holes.

Courses are some the best on the Monterey Peninsula.

New ownership with many improvements already including fresh new sand in the bunkers.

Black Horse still is a challenging course in a beautiful setting; sad to see the major housing development now going on: it‘s adding construction noise to your play and really increasingly ruins the majestic setting of these 2 courses - and bringing down the value for the money, too

I signed up for the Bayonet Course, and the starter put me on Blackhorse. I little disapointment but we will have to back again some day and play the other one.

My first time playing the course. It wasn't busy, so I played by myself. I found the greens extremely difficult on certain holes, but very fun none the less.

Cool day in Jan so course very wet until noon. Fast undulating greens. Need good drives and accurate approaches. Paid 100 for hot deal. Not sure $130 would be good value. Enjoyed it! Good food at grill too

thios is a tough course b/c the greens are so develish. plus there are lots of well-placed bunkers. many fairways are sloped. i found it too tough for my age (81) and handicap(18.1), but my son loved it.

Always in great shape, horse a bit more forgiving than bayonet. Both great tracks.

I’ve been playing blackhorse 2 to 3 times a year for over 25 years . The drainage renovations made about 15 years ago have ruined the play at blackhorse. The drainage area at each green creates a collection area below the green that unfairly affects play . The Lady paired with us hit a putt from back of the green that should have stopped 2 feet past the hole rolled 15 more feet off the green into the collection area . Blackhorse has been my favorite until the drainage renovations were made . I will no longer play it .

Couldn't have asked for better weather and also course conditions for the end of November. Greens were FIRM which is what I prefer and the course was in very good shape.
