About
Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

Bad timing, I guess.
This is typically a fun course. On March 4th, the greens were in terrible shape. They had just been sanded, and I know that's normal maintenance. But there were literally PILES of sand on the greens, making them extremely difficult to putt. It would not have take much more effort to smooth out the PILES OF SAND on all the greens... I had to do my own "sweeping" to make a few putts, that were definitely going nowhere if I didn't do my own sand maintenance.
One of the best courses I’ve ever played!
From the Played Pacific Grove while in town for the Pro-Am and had an awesome experience. The staff in both the pro shop and snack shack were incredibly friendly and welcoming — made everything smooth from start to finish. Course conditions were great, especially the greens. And wow… the back 9 is unreal — some of the craziest ocean views you’ll find on a public course. A must-play if you’re anywhere near Monterey. Can’t wait to come back! ⛳️🌊
Downhill
We’ve played here every time we come to the West Coast,it’s always a treat,especially the back nine,fabulous views and course is usually great.
This time was different -the restaurant was closed and had been since November,not even a coffee machine?The clubhouse and its surroundings were untidy,the toilets were untidy,towel bins full to overflowing and water on the floors.
It’s clear something is wrong! We thought it might be closing but I’m pretty sure it’s owned by the city, so what’s the problem?
Course is still pleasant albeit a little worn and there seemed to be a general lack of staff!
Shame as it’s a great venue!
Beautiful Day at PG
Had a great time playing Pacific Grove Golf Links. A fun, challenging & Beautiful course with breathtaking ocean views on the back 9.
The greens were a little fuzzy and didn’t roll as fast as they did when I played in July, but I still putted fairly well. Looking forward to another round at PG soon!
Always a treat
there are many options to play in the area. I continue to visit PG at least once a year and play here. While the green fees have gone up over time, the value is still there. Wonderful staff, great layout and distraction if your round goes a little sideways!
