Pacific Grove Golf Links

About
Originally designed by Chandler Egan in 1932, the first nince holes takes you through the forested areas of Pacific Grove. Egan's nine takes you through an inland terrain and reflects much of the charm of an English rural course done in the old style.
The back nine was designed by Jack Neville, the original designer of the Pebble Beach Links. It opened in 1960, and is laid out in true links design over dunesland that approaches the sea.
Over looking the course is the Point Pinos Lighthouse. Built in 1855, it is the longest continuously operating lighthouse in California. It is a historical sentinel and picturesque landmark of the golf course.
A scenic tour of the dramatic coastline provides views of Lover's Point, Point Pinos, Crespi Pond and the natural dunesland at Asilomar. You will be enchanted by the abundance of natural wonders such as the plentiful Pacific Blacktail Deer, seals, sea lions, sea otters, pelicans and gulls.

As good as it gets!!!!
Perfect day at PG GOLF LINKS!!! Perfect weather, greens are perfect, staff is nice!!!
Best round of my life!!!
As good as it gets. Weather was great, pace was great....I had a couple of chip-in's and a BIRDIE!!! Needless to say, it was a great day!!!!
Awesome...
ZERO complaints. Staff was friendly, other golfers were friendly, weather was perfect....maybe the best round of my life!!! (excluding the score!!!)
PG Muni Staff Rocks!!!
Home course and knew what to expect but had not played it in over ten years............Not since management was changed from City employee to Golf Management company.
Folks in the Pro Shop were friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating...........especially for the show we presented them with. Eight (grown men) of Pacific Grove's past home for the holidays, on a few drinks and rambunctious, during Covid all trying to get paid and placed in time to start our round. The pro shop was AMAZING to not only handle it but not make any of us feel like we were anything but welcome. THANK YOU.
Greens were in as good of a condition as ever...........pretty pure!!!
Course set-up was fair and challenging at times. A few diabolic pin placements just the way it should be.
Thank you!!!
worth the drive
it's worth driving from san jose. best back nine for the money. both me and the wife enjoy the course. if you haven't played the course, go play it
PG FUN
Thank you so much!
We had a blast. My nephew and his 10 year old twins...best day of golf ever. First time the played 18 holes. We finished in 4 hours!
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone at Pacific Grove Muni!!

Carmel, Ca
1st time here
The front 10 holes is not very good, especially the green is almost not playable; ball not rolling! Pace of the play is slow as well as there’s lots of older people takes leisure to play...
After 11 holes, u’re playing by the gorgeous beach, which is why people calls “ poor man’s pebble beach”.
As I need to drive 75mins from home, I do not think that’s worth for me to come again.
One of my favorite rounds
A super early tee time for my brother and I turned into an amazing time. We got paired with a couple great guys and had a ton of fun. The scenery especially on the back 9 had gorgeous ocean views. The course had a great mix of challenging holes and holes to attack for low scores. The green fees were an amazing deal considering all the views and the course layout. I look forward to playing here again sometime soon!
Great location, poorly maintained
The staff at this course must lack funding to properly maintain it. It is such a great location but the greens are terrible. The fairways, rough, and other aspects of the course are acceptable, but sheesh...address the greens!!
Mr
Very Good $$$ value, relative to the length of the course. Cart paths need to be addressed and reckoned with, ideally asphalt versus the present dirt- gravel. Very good and walkable with pull cart. Better guidance signs would assist the golfer know where to go. Still most pleased with the overall experience
Mr.
61 degree grey skies wonderful cool weather! Relative to the very expensive Pebble Beach cost $575 + ( cart $45 / person), excellent bargain for a municipal course!!! Good putting conditions. Cart path somewhat rocky at times. Comfortable day!
Might as well change to a Country Club
Let me first say that I have played PG many times. However, since COVID19, the course has gotten so much play that you need to set aside 5 hours, and that’s unacceptable. Couple that with the lack of available tee times because of all the “clubs” that play there - Men’s, Sr. Men’s, Ladies, etc who have blocks of tee times, and good luck trying to get a decent time. Recently I tried to book 8 days out, and the only time available was 4:40. This, coupled with the grumpiness of the front desk - and you get the picture. Yes, the greens are great, fairways OK - but it;s time for Monterey pines to open back up to the public!!
Awesome view
Really enjoyed playing great course but the greens were not in the prime condition
