Nice links course

Enjoyed this course. Nice homely pro-shop attached to bar/restaurant. Newer range balls. Large putting green. Course itself was in very good shape from tee to green. Not a complaint but worth noting-

The greens are very small. They are mostly deep/wide, but very thin landing areas. Correct yardage is a major factor here. Enjoyed the challenge it was worth the drive.

Getting better every month....

I've been playing Black Bear for 15 + years now. There was a time early in the 2000's this course was a premier place to play, but it too, fell victim of competition and location (proximity to Orlando). The course for the past few years was almost unbearable to play, lack of real maintenance began to show. The course sold to a new owner about a year and a half ago. All I can say is this guy knows what he's doing and what a gem of course he purchased. In a short time frame, he has taken a 2-Star Course and created a 4-star course. With a little patience, this can be a 5-Star place to play! He has put money into just about every aspect of the course. I played January 17, 2022 and the course was set up for a East Coast LPGA tournament. The course conditions and set up were OUTSTANDING. From the range (new balls) to the fairway and greens, Black Bear is finally back. As the membership and play begin to increase, I am sure the rough cart paths and bits of erosion here and there will improve, but quite frankly, the course is the best it's been in 10 years. The greens were the best aspect of the course, being smooth, fast and tough, but rewarding a great roll!!

If I was to offer some room for improvement, it would be the cart paths and the bunkers could use new sand. That's no reason NOT to play Black Bear.

Oh, the food is FANTASTIC and the Bar has ice cold brew on tap. The entire Black Bear staff, venue and ownership really make golfing there a real pleasure. Keep up the great work. I'll be back in two weeks!

great afternoon play

course is in good shape and the score cards have been updated since the last time we were there. The practice area is super and worth arriving early to be able to use it. No on course restrooms so watch what you drink.
