A little dark, but black bear in a dark tree, hole # 6...appropriate for Black Bear Golf Club! Photo submitted by relivgolfers on 09/29/2013
Excellent condition
This course is in great shape. Nice greens that were rolling quick and true. Fairways are in really good shape as well. Fairways are fairly generous with the landing area but the approach shots require some control and accuracy as the greens are small with a lot of undulations. Nice practice facility also. Really enjoyed playing here and I look forward to returning. Definitely recommend this course if you are looking for a nice round of golf.
Saturday 18
Black Bear is a must play! Played a round last Saturday and this course is beautiful tee box to green. Very fun layout with some challenging holes and elevation. Pace of play was fine for the entire round. This was my first time playing here and certainly won’t be my last. Definitely one of my favorite courses I’ve played in the Orlando area. Can’t wait to get back out to Black Bear!
Great Track
This course has a great layout, and can be very challenging depending on tees and pin placement. Course is in terrific shape, with greens rolling quick and true. Fairways are fairly generous, but accuracy on approach shots is a must as the greens are small with a lot of undulations. Highly recommend playing if you’re in the area.
Always enjoyable
One of my regular courses that I play, it has a big time course feel without the attraction area rates. The condition of the course was excellent and the pace of play was not bad (finished right at 4 hours). The layout will challenge all levels of golfer but plays fair if you play from the proper tees. Only drawback is not everyone fixes their ball marks on the greens, so they were a little pock marked the day we played. Look forward to playing this track again and again.
A good challenge
The course is in great shape in most spots. I played the front tees thinking it was the yardage on the card but soon re that they were changing the tees and distances up. It turns out that they are putting in a new tee box. So be aware. ladies the front ( red ) tees are very short. Next time Imwill, play greens. I wish they had told me that at check,in.Imfound out at the end of the round when Imasked in the shop.People are very friendly and the course is in great shape. Definitely worth a come back.
Best value in Central Florida!
Black Bear co tinies to provide a great golf experience for the money. Staff is wonderful and the course layout and condition are tops in the area .
Head to Black Bear for your next round. You will not be disappointed.

Greens are challenging and can be downright difficult depending on pin placements. Majority of the fairways are in very good condition and there is not really any rough to speak of. If you hit the ball offline you can recover easily on most of the holes.
Always Great
BB is always in great shape and always plays well. This is one I will keep playing as a regular. No complaints here.
First impression
Let start with,I’ll be back. Being a seasonal for the first time in the area I have trying different courses. Absolutely loved this course as it has he feel of a big time course. The amount of bunkers is intimidating but I only found one all day. The condition of the course was very good. The reason I didn’t give this course 5 stars is that I hold that for truly exceptional courses. Think Pinehurst #4.
A good test
The course is in good condition. The greens are a little slow but roll true. Tees and fairways are fine. The heavy rain last week has washed out some of the bunkers. There is just enough rough to impact wayward drives. The greens are long but very narrow. Being elevated makes them difficult to to hit particularly on windy days. A large driving range and putting green gives you plenty of space to warm up. The new carts are also a plus. Black Bear is playable for all skill levels as there are not many forced carries. Even though it’s playable, the bear does have teeth and is very tough to score well if you don’t have your “A” game.
Enjoyed it!
Great facility overall. Great new carts and the fairways and greens are in great shape.
Good But Windy
The course conditions were pretty good, but the windy conditions made it more difficult. No fault of the course, just a bad day.
