A little dark, but black bear in a dark tree, hole # 6...appropriate for Black Bear Golf Club! Photo submitted by relivgolfers on 09/29/2013
Must play
I highly recommend this course for value and challenging layout. The course is in great shape tee to green. We played early and got around in just under 4 hours. Everyone from the pro shop to the starter to the beverage girl was pleasant. This is one of my go-to top 3 courses now.
Great As Always
Course is always in great shape. It was full due to it being a weekend and great weather, so the pace was a little slow. 4 1/2 hours. But that’s expected. I will always come back to this one.
Great conditions and pace of play for a weekend morning
Black bear is consistently a great place to play. Conditions are good and pace of play never slowed down. Staff is always friendly
Gem of a Course
The course was in very good shape overall, both the fairways and greens were a 9, a very good value!
Great Course! Great Price!
Great course to play the greens were in good condition. Unfortunately, it started raining really hard only played 8 holes had to stop. I'll definitely go back again enjoy the time I was there. Keep up the good work with the course!!
Hills Do Exist in FL
Had an amazing round of golf. We ventured an hour north of Orlando, FL and were transported to a stunning, hilly, challenging course reminiscent of Pennsylvanian courses.
This family of four loved the challenges of the course, the picturesque setting and the company. Kiddos are free after 1 PM with a paying adult - #winwin.
The Pro Shop Staff was super friendly and helpful. My only critique of the course is that unfortunately, we were unable to recharge with a quick meal between the front and back nine (and the attitude of the bar staff was lacking the pleasantries we received with the other staff.). Meal stops are critical when playing with kiddos who don’t have the stamina as adults, but we snagged a hot dog and adapted.
We thoroughly enjoyed the course, scenery and conditions and can’t wait to return!
LOVED IT!
Seriously, It's my favorite course I have played and I have lived here for 60 years. I just loved the extremely narrow greens.....loved it!
Great Conditions
Played Black Bear today and the entire course was in exceptional condition. A bit rainy but needs a course warden. A 4 some jumped in front of us on the 4 th hole. We waited every hole till we finished. They never offered to let us through even though there was nobody in front of them and people behind us were quite annoyed
Great Course
Course was in excellent shape. There was a couple wet spots due to all the recent rain but not an issue. I highly recommend this course.
Slow Today
Course is always in great condition. Tee, fairway, green. Beautiful shape. Pace of play was really slow today. Too many foursomes playing slowly and not letting faster players play through.
Challenge!!
Course is a real challenge. Very hilly and interesting course design!
Great Course ... challenging for all skill levels
Black Bear was in great condition compared to other local courses. The green were in great shape, the fairways were in great shape, and the tee boxes were great. Some of the bunkers were in the need for some attention, but the recent rains were the obvious culprit. The course can be challenging if you are not a pure fairway hitter....the bunkers will swallow you up.... I only wish they would include a course map on the score sheet, as it had been years since I played this course,...It was a guess on some holes as to where the flag would be off the tee, due to the elevation changes and hills/bunkers on the course. All of the tee boxes did not have the hole layout markers, or we just missed them..... so it was an interesting round....
Great First Experience! Challenging but Gorgeous!
I'm a novice golfer, so it was a struggle to hit any greens in regulation. With that said, I've never enjoyed getting my butt kicked by a golf course so much.
The terrain on the course was breathtaking, and the course conditions were very good. Most of the greens are smallish, and many are very narrow, so your approach game better be spot on.
The beverage cart stopped running by the time I teed off around 2pm because there just weren't enough patrons to make it worth the effort, but I was able to get a cart cooler from the bar filled with beer at a reasonable price, so I didn't go thirsty!
I can't wait to come back!
