A little dark, but black bear in a dark tree, hole # 6...appropriate for Black Bear Golf Club! Photo submitted by relivgolfers on 09/29/2013
Hidden Gem!
Found this course online. Reviews were favorable and highly rated. Made the hour drive inland from the east coast of Florida to play. Course is in great condition with nice fairways and lush greens that held well struck shots! Greens rolled smoothly. Sand traps were raked and in good shape as well. Carts are newer and in good condition. Staff was pleasant and very helpful. Water is available on the course and a beverage cart roams the course. All in all, had a favorable experience and enjoyed my visit!
Do You Dare? The Bear
If your out in this area give it a shot. This is a challenge but enjoyable. Will be coming back.
Always great
I love the challenge of this course. If the wind isn't blowing anywhere else, it's blowing at Black Bear; that just adds to the challenge. The course is in excellent condition in all aspects.
Good Day at Black Bear
Course in good shape. Greens good. As dry as it has been surprised how good the course was.
My Favorite Course
I live in Deltona and I do not mind driving out here to Black Bear. The course is like nothing you would typically experience. The hills are plentiful bring your walking legs. Great practice facilities. A must play! Love this course. Get out here and dare the bear.
Awesome Course
Course is still in beautiful shape. One of the best around. Great day of golf. Will definitely play again soon.
Slow But Nice
Play was slow, greens slow but course conditions are otherwise v. good.
Had a good time
The tract was in excellent shape although I I got beaten up I really enjoyed my self just need to focus more next time
My Favorite Course
Best course in the area by far. Open fairways but challenging hills and elevated greens. Course is ALWAYS in really good condition. A must play
Decent course, almost all elevated greens, so can't afford to miss the green. Greens are fun with lots of undulations. I wouldn't say this course is anything extremely special but it was a fun day. Somewhere in the 6.5-7 out of 10 range. Would play again
Beautiful Course
Only drawback today was slow pace of play. But it was Saturday and perfect weather, so that was expected. Four and a half hours. Otherwise, beautiful course. Perfect condition from tee to green on all 18. Challenging pin placements. Will definitely play this one again.
Great fun
Good highlands style layout. Greens are in excellent condition. Sand is Very Difficult I will play here again soon
Wide fairways and small greens
Great course. The course is challenging and playable for all level of golfer. The course favors a high ball hitter due to the elevated greens that lack depth. Several flags were placed in areas that were no more than 10 paces deep. A wayward approach will leave you a treacherous putt or chip based on the slopes on the greens. The fairways are generous but be sure to pay attention to the fairway bunkers because they are in play off the tees. Some of the bunkers need some maintenance, but avoiding them eliminates the issue. The greens were firm and rolled true, but were a little slower than normal. Overall Black Bear is an excellent course and a great value.
