Birkdale Golf Club

I highly recommend playing the course with its challenges and several unique holes. My issue is that I wear braces and the day I booked a tee time it was cart path only and the course was extremely wet in several fairways and this spoiled the experience for me. Maybe I’ll try again when I know I can avoid these issues

It was a beautiful day and a nice round. Course was in very good condition considering we have had dry weather and many courses have suffered badly.

Pace of play was decent, a tad pushed, but certainly to be expected on such a fantastic day and we had a foursome. Course marshal was nice and staff friendly.

The only very small downside to the entire round was the course had been over watered in a few areas and made it a little soggy.

Greens were really nice except for the 18th which could use some work. Definitely recommend going there to play.

Course in average condition. Not as good as a few weeks ago. Very WET - - Don't think its cause of rain, probably broken water/ sprinkler lines maybe???

Course gets lots of play, people not fixing marks on the green. It's sad that people can't take care of our golf courses.

I had not played Birkdale in 5-6 years and was not sure what to expect. The reviews were getting better.

We arrived about 45 min. early to hit some balls. We were told that they were out and would have some in about 20 min. We went to the practice area and chipped and putted. There were a few range balls on the range and it was enough to warm up a bit. Range grass only ok. Course was in pretty good shape, greens were good, medium speed. Fairways were good, grassy though a bit tight on places. Rough was wiry and in spots balls were hard to find even close to fairways. traps were in decent shape. Temp green on # 18. Young women on beverage cart very nice and personable as was the young woman in the bar. Good overall experience.

Fairways are sparse at best, one of the holes had a temporary green, they never informed us. Greens are slow and patchy. It a course we will be returning to! In fact it’s the worse course I’ve played all year. Worse part is, even with temporary green and bad fairways, they were still charging 58 .00. Not worth 15.

Fairway are in pretty good condition. Tee boxes on the back 9 are poor. Covered with weeds and crabgrass. Several green are loaded down with sand. Ball Mark's on all of the greens most of the players dont repair the ball marks.

Nice course, friendly staff. Signage could be better, fairways are poorly marked (150 yard markers only).

Course layout was good with a variety of holes. Very playable for less accomplished golfers but some challenges included for the more accomplished golfers. In general, the bent grass greens were a little slow and some of them were a little beat up. A lot of un-repaired ball marks on may of the greens. Overall, a very enjoyable course to play and, at the discounted price, a good value for the experience. I will certainly play the course again.

Course okay. Tee boxes just so so from the Whites. Greens were really beat up. Fairway okay in spots, other area sparse grass.

For $22.00, the price was right!

Considering the 2-3 inches of rain in the past 3 days, the course was in great condition. There were wet areas on some fairways, but they were few and far between. We did not see any traps with standing water and the grass over most of the tees, fairways and rough had even been cut recently. The greens are in good-to-great shape. Had expected much wetter or “sloppy” conditions and was pleasantly surprised !!

Course is in great shape compared to past years. Although, with todays rain, it was very wet and soggy - cart path only. Pace was decent. Glad we stuck with it, after 6 holes rain stopped.

This course has really improved over the past few years! Nice fairways and greens though people still aren’t consistently fixing their divots on the green. Nice, good price, highly recommend and thinking about being a member!

Birkdale is a player friendly course for mid handicappers, but the back tees present a challenge to better golfers.

I definitely recommend this course for players of all skill levels.

I used to play Birkdale 2004-2006 but it was always water-logged due to the clay soil. The problem has finally been remediated and this was definitely the most enjoyable experience I've had on this course. The greens were in excellent shape and the green fees were very reasonable. I'll be back.

Good public course in the area. Took about 4 hours to complete round on a Saturday morning ... first time and didn’t like that they didn’t have a map of the course so I was hitting blind shots without distances off the tee. Value was decent and is even cheaper in the afternoon

The course was in good shape and the greens were running also in good condition. The pace of play was slow for the day I played because there were a group of 5 players in front of me and some were hitting two balls at certain times slowing up the pace. There should be a Marshall in the course to monitor things like that and pace of play. Overall it’s a good course and I plan to play here more.

Course played well was in pretty good shape had some areas being reseeded but didn’t affect the play
