Disney's Magnolia Golf Course
About
The 18-hole Magnolia Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL is a resort golf course that opened in 1971. Designed by Joe Lee and Rocky Roquemore, Magnolia Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort measures 7516 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 141 and a 76.0 USGA rating. The course features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bermuda grass.
Of all the Disney courses, the Magnolia supports a greater abundance of wildlife. At any given time, you're likely to see deer, osprey, alligators and turtles. A flock of wild turkeys has brought several tournaments to a standstill while they pecked along its fairways. The course features elevated tees and greens with wide and generous fairways graced by over 1,500 magnolia trees that bloom from late spring to mid-summer. Brightly colored crape myrtles and oleanders, along with beds of blue plumbego and seasonal flowers, add sparkle to an otherwise dense, natural forest.

Unfortunately, the climate of recent has not been conducive to healthy turf growth, but we expect that as the weather warms up again, that the vibrancy of the turf will again return.-Management Photo submitted by Ah1122 on 03/24/2021

You have to any this one. Great course.
We couldn't have been made any more welcome if Micky Mouse had personally done it himself. Felt like we see the only people on the course, which clearly we weren't but the team see great. Big event being played on the day, so we started on the 10th. Expected it to be slow however it wasn't too bad. The pace of play was continual so we werent kept waiting on any tee. The course was amazing and definitely went to the top of our list of the best places to play. The fairways were good if you got to land on them! We found ourselves in the rough quite a lot and it was tough to get out of. Just long enough to hide the ball. Greens were receptive and true. Bunkers were a blinding white soft sand and easy to get out of. The whole ambience of the course was astonishing and certainly made for a fabulous game of golf. Although it is long and tough, we will be going back again as we know we can any it better than we did. I would highly recommend this as a course to lay. Yes it is pretty expensive but worth every cent. Great if you are a resident as the cost is reduced quite a lot.
Great Course
**I only played the back nine, but played it twice.
We played Magnolia on a Saturday. I knew the pace would be slow since its a resort. However the turtles in front of us were just so slow we decided to play the back nine twice, since they are starting you on the back these days. However the back nine was in fantastic shape and i would gladly play it again.
Greens were excellent. Fairways were beautiful. Lots of wildlife, nice facilities and the ice makers and water at the comfort stations is a great touch.
As always, just what i expect from Disney Golf.
Course conditions, did Disney go bankrupt?
Pictures above are either from a long time ago or edited through photo shop. No email or warning this course was aerated on the front. Ruff was burnt out and brown and water was murky with algae. Disappointed in seeing this course like this the way it is. Was very excited to play it due to its name and hosted many PA events. Would recommend to play due to being Disney'so course. Nothing really tricky about the layout. Course is mainly challenging due to its length.
Not up to par
Booked Magnolia. Arrived told back 9 on Magnolia then to back 9 on Palm. No drink cart. No place to have a drink after the round. No valet parking. Probably won't be back, was double the price of other courses in area and others were in much better condition with excellent customer service.
Bad Business
I made a reservation here earlier in the day. I got an email confirming the tee time before I hung up the phone. This instant communication will come into play in a minute.
We arrive the required 30 minutes early and the guy behind the desk says we are closed. We chuckle, he did not. He was serious. Are you kidding me? You can email me instantly to confirm and throw a cancellation policy together via a computer but you can't hit a cancel button and have a program email all golfers with tee times?!?!
So we call the reservations people and they say yes, all courses closed for weather. Ok great. Did you want to tell us? They say the pro shop handles rain checks and comps. So in we go again.
We ask about rain checks and complimentary rounds. We state we drove all the way here in traffic and the dude says like a smart alleck "did you not see how much rain we got" and "well where did you drive from". It doesn't matter! So a 'manager' will need to call me since none are present. I can't wait.
There was nothing "magical" about this experience. I'm just glad others were showing up to golf and were about to get the same story. Way to set your people up for failure Disney Golf. On to my next review site.
Best Disney Course by Far
This is one of the top courses in all of Orlando in my opinion and vastly superior to all the other Disney courses. It is always in immaculate condition and can be a real challenge depending on setup.
You get hints of Disney throughout the course, but it isn't overwhelming or in spite of the great scenery.
Very nice course
This was my first visit to Magnolia, I played an afternoon round and got paired up with a group that was on vacation. Fairly typical for a single playing in the attractions. The staff is generally friendly and willing to help. The practice facility is nice at all of the disney courses. I have played LBV and the Palm and feel this one is more challenging due to the length and strategic placement of bunkers and water throughout the course. Plus it was built as a PGA tour stop. The course was in great condition from tee to greens. The bunkers, which are set to rebuilt this summer are still in good condition. The two things I don't like are 1) there is no longer a beverage cart making rounds on the course. They have a stationary beverage cart at the turn. 2) the last two times I have played at the Palm/Magnolia, I've used the showers but there was no hot water. I would definitely recommend this course. Be aware that it can be really crowded any day of the week though, so expect a longer round. The courses noted pace of play is 4.5 hours so plan for 5, just incase. Overall, had a great time and can't wait to play this course again.
June 6, 2015
If you want to know what its like to play Tour quality greens, play Magnolia NOW. Greens were unreal, true roll, fast and not a thing wrong with them. The tee boxes were moved up (which is common for resort courses on a weekend) but the length was still very good. Fairways were a little tighter than I expected, but overall course conditions were amazing, a standard at Disney. For the summer rates, and the amount of traffic this course gets it is amazing. Bunkers are being rebuilt this summer according to the signage on the course, but they were great as well, except for some having standing water. But given the amount of rainfall from the night before it was to be expected. FANTASTIC day at Disney!
Good greens terrible pace of play
Greens were terrific, and overall course condition was great. But the 5-hour round made this a very frustrating round of golf.
Great Golf course
The Course is nice an in good Conditions. The Stuff is really friendly and helpful. We would play always again here.
Great Day at Disney
Great course, great staff, took five hours to play. Typical day at Disney. But we really did enjoy playing here.
Great lay out
Great day at the funnest place on turf. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not in the best shape
Love coming to Disney courses. But greens had been recently top dressed and bunkers were more mud than sand. Disappointing as course was not close to being in "Disney" condition. The staff, as always, couldn't have been nicer or more helpful.
Got caught in the rain, but fun golf experience
Expected to pay more because it carries the "Disney" brand and with PGA Tour history. Value for the golf experience is average if you can afford to pay.
I liked this course very much, somewhat challenging and pleasing to 'my eye'.
Service was great.
It rained on us for the front 9, difficult to appreciate the scenery.
Can't wait to come play again. However, again the course conditions can use more attention.
worth the stop
a long track but very playabul in you keep within the marks greans roll true and med. to fast speed if your in orlando and playing golf make the stop you'll love it can't wait to get back and play again
great course. . greens were bad
It was a great course other than the greens were horrible. Not worth full in season rate with greens torn up and sandy.
Would not go back.
I wanted to play there since I have never played a Disney course. I wish I would have stayed home. I thought the course would be in the better shape then other courses in Orlando. Especially since in is a Disney course. I felt like they just did not care about keeping the course nice. Fairways had little to no grass in spots. Greens looked as if they did not get over seeded. I payed the Florida resident price of 58. But my Uncle paid the regular price of 125.00 since he is from PA. Two days later we played a course that was $36 a person that was in amazing condition. Save your money and play some where else.
