About

Type Resort

Length 6840 yards
Slope 134
Rating 73.3

The 18-hole Palm Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL is a resort golf course that opened in 1971. Designed by Joe Lee and Rocky Roquemore, Palm Course at Walt Disney World Golf Resort measures 6840 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 134 and a 73.3 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. Greens and fairways are bermuda grass.

The natural Florida woodlands provide a stunning backdrop to one of America's premier resort courses. Architect, Joe Lee, designed the 6,870-yard Palm with elevated tees and greens. The key ingredient, of course, was the Florida palm and he made good use of nearly every variety for aesthetic and strategic purposes. Its fairways are crafted through a pine forest of mature, natural woodlands that includes moss-dappled oak, maple and cypress trees. Palmetto scrub fills the forest floor. It boasts of more than its share of water and sand with nine water holes and 94 bunkers.

This is a perfect choice for everything from a casual round to a large group outing.

Good course but doesn't drain well. Many holes were muddy and cart path only despite no recent rain.

Nice resort course

Just what you would expect from a resort course- generous fairways, large greens , nicely kept and friendly service. The only downside is when it rains, this course does not drain will and is forced to revert to cart path only. The greens were soft but very playable, the fairways soft and saturated and there was standing water in rough. That being said the course is playable while you will have to do a lot of walking. If the afternoon rains continue- expect to play cart path only.

You can drain a swamp...or maybe not...

It's Florida in the summer time and playing in the afternoon is a risky proposition on a number of levels. The good news is, only four holes that were not Par 3s were cart path only. The bad news is, balls would still plug in the fairway on holes that you could drive the cart on.

I got a great deal on a short notice single player spot, and we got all 18 in, in spite of some rumbles of thunder. But with the course as soft as it was, the ball stopped where it landed...which made for a long course even playing from the 5800 yard tees.

Palm is to me the more original Florida golf course since only a few of the holes play in view of other parts of Disney. It's a fun course with generous fairways and open tee shots. All of the greens are raised, because that was the only way they would drain. The greens are huge.

I hadn't played this course in several years, so it was fun to see it again. I will now have to come back in November before the sock it to the snowbirds rates kick in to enjoy playing it.

Cartpath only, don't play

A beautiful course! Heavy rain 2 days before we played, like walking on a wet sponge. My wife needed a cart. It was a tough day but she managed. The course should've been closed.

Wet

Unfortunately the Course was extremely wet due to flooding Rains the day prior. Look forward to playing the course again in dry conditions. Golf shop was on point with a wide selection.

If you plan on playing and it’s been raining, try the Lake Buena Vista course it drains much better after heavy rains.

Better service

Not sure where to start! Course received 3.5 inches of rain the night before so it was cart part only, but we weren’t informed. No big deal, I’ve played in those conditions before. Since I work at a premier golf resort, I understand tee sheets. We were paired with a single at the last minute, which I understand. What I don’t understand is why they would send out a single right behind us and have him on our tails the entire front 9. The single was in the green side bunker while we were on the green putting! What should have happened is either pair us as a fourball or pair the two singles together! This day was definitely not the happiest place on turf. I almost quit after 9 but luckily the single, who was reluctant to play through, even though he might as well have been playing with us, decided to play through. The round got better until we caught the two ball in front of us. Pace of play was 4:45 which is ok as long as everyone is keeping up or not hounding the group in front. I won’t be back for awhile even though I usually enjoy Disney courses. Or, I’ll make sure to bring a foursome to avoid the paring issues.

Wet but nice

I played the day after two inches of rain so the course was soggy, traps wet and hard, greens slow. Cart path only for the entire course so got my exercise. Layout is fine - but nothing special. Lots of elevated greens so need to be confident with wedges. Carts are great - comfy electric with GPS.
