Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Disappointing
I had stopped playing this course last year because the greens were bad. The club rebuilt the greens and reopened the course. Unfortunately although the greens are now pretty good the fairways and especially the rough is very sub-par. I can not recommend this course until they repair the the rest of this course.
Course shut down
Course shut down due to severe lighting and tornado alerts and trying to get refund
Greens improving
Play here every few weeks. Greens have really improved over the last few months. Very smooth now but a little slow.
Good layout and value for the money. Played as a single behind a few 4 somes and still managed 3.5 hour round.
Will definitely be back.
Course going downhill.
This was a very good course in the past. Tee boxes are horrible. Fairways are ok, rough needs some care and I he greens are very good. They need to put some money into making the entire course worth $50.
good course, will come again
course is in good shape, challanging and fun, the new greens are in good shape but a little slow.
Excellent greens. Rest of course needs some love.
The greens are excellent for the area. 9.7/10 condition. Tee boxes 1/10. Fairways 3/10. Back 9 is the nicer of the two sides. Not the easiest course. Some narrow fairways. But for $51.00 with Cart it's a decent value in the area.
Sad review of a good layout
I do NOT recommend playing here. The greens are new and putt decently although predictably slow. The tees, fairways, and rough are truly awful. It is not possible to hit the ball anywhere and get a decent lie. The fairways are at best thin but are mostly dirt and weeds. The tees are mostly dirt as is the rough. Save your money for another course in good condition.
Nice, But Slow Greens
First time playing this course. Conditions were very good, however the speed of the greens was slow. This was to be expected though as the greens were rebuilt in 2021 and still need time to mature. I will be putting this course on my rotation and look forward to playing again.
Acceptable if other alternatives are lacking.
I wanted to like Halifax Plantation more, because the staff are a pleasure and it's easy-going. However, other than the greens, which are new, and need some seasoning, the course is just not in good condition. Patchy grass, bare soils, and sand in places where sand shouldn't be make club selection and wedge control really difficult. It was probably a nice course back in the day when the development around it was new, but it seems like the years have depleted the things that grass likes from the soil and left this course wanting. It's ok if you have no better alternative, but its condition cost me shots.
Poor condition
Course was not in very good shape. We played here last year and it was in good shape. Greens looked and played like they hadn’t been mowed in a couple days. They were very “fuzzy”. Layout is great but it needs some TLC.
Nice place to play
I’ve played here quite a few times over the years. Condition of the course has been consistent - not as plush in winter but very playable, come April it is usually in nice shape. Greens were in very good shape, some tee boxes need help. Fairways are average for this time of year.
The staff is excellent, very friendly and helpful. Wonderful food in the pub.
I will be back.
