Halifax Plantation
About
This 18 hole championship course opened in 1992 and was designed by Bill Amick. The shady fairways are bordered by huge sprawling oaks and towering pines, nestled in the shadows of Bulow and Tomoka State Parks in Ormond Beach. The course features five elevated tee boxes and fast, contoured, highly manicured greens adequately protected by traps. A unique experience for the golfer who enjoys not only a challenge but also extraordinary scenery.

Covid carts
The course was in pretty good shape. Some of the tee boxes need some work along with some of the greens, they seem to have some kind of fungus. It is much better today than past playing time. The one negative I had was that you were forced to share a cart or pay $20 additional for a private cart. The general manager (who apparently is an expert on covid) said it was safe to ride with others because you are outdoors. I do like this course and have never had an issue with requesting a non-sharing cart. Something to think about next time I want to play here.

Nice folks, good course
With the weather being perfect, the course was packed.
Pace of play was quite slow until the group in front of us let us play through. Conditions were average at best. Fairways were okay, sparse grass in a lot of areas. Greens were okay, with quite a few areas needing attention. The folks that work there are very friendly, and were working hard being as busy as it was.

Played Halifax Plantation once or twice annually for the last 15-20 years. Seems like course conditions aren’t what they used to be. Fairways inconsistent, greens are a small step down graded from normal condition. Still a good course that needs a little TLC or additional maintenance budget. Carts in need of replacement. Mine died on 15 hole. Don’t let this course fall apart like others in the area (Indigo Lakes, Cypress Knoll, etc...). It’s too good of a layout to squander. Best of luck!

course is nice and usually in great shape
played here often and its usually in great shape this time the fairways didn't have much grass on them .the greens were in the worst shape since playing there about 10 years hopefully it will get better soon

Firm putter to succeed
The greens were furry, soft, and sticky slow. On regular rolled greens the ball strikes would have been traveling 10 feet past the hole. Rest of the course was pretty nice as fairways were wide and bunkers were well positioned. Just couldn't get used to the required putting stroke. Would play this course again, but would hope the greens had been cut and rolled prior to my round.

Bushy greens
The fairways, tee boxes, sand traps were all in excellent condition, however, due to bad rain and frost issues the greens are hurting. They are growing back and so the greens are very slow. Very friendly staff, will play again when we are back in town next year. I really love the layout and trap placement makes for a challenging course (fore us 85 and above hcp).

Fun Winter Day
Beautiful day for golf on a warm winter day. Pace of play was slow with lots of mixed groups.
Tees and greens in good shape, but some Fairways thin.
Overall a good day and a fair bargain.
