Fun course.
Very fun to play. It was in the midst of a dry spell, so the ball was running on the fairways, but the greens were well watered resulting in consistent putting. Some water hazards, but very little verical to contend with. Overall, a fun outing.
Nice course....challenging holes.
Courses is always nice to play. Challenging holes. Greens were in good condition but fairways were a bit rough. A lot of shots were hit off dirt conditions.
Wow, what happened to this course?
Last time I played on this course was about a year ago and befor that, I played few more times.
I like to play different courses so I don't bother to get a membership.
I just played at Rendition a week ago and was looking forward to have another good experience on this course but wow, what's going on with all these dead grasses in fairways and near the green?
The green is average shape and that's another disappointment, I was expecting real nice roll.
But instead, it's all rough!!
This course used to be one of nicest course but the day I played, I was wishing I wouldn't have come.
It's all Green grasses on all the courses I played within 60 miles, but here, its BROWN!!
Hope this gets better, it's a real shame.
Oh, the staffs are nice at least.......
A Perfectly Decent Course
With the unfortunate demise of Cannon Ridge GC, Lee’s Hill becomes Fredericksburg’s go-to public course with good conditions, pleasant layout and excellent value for your money.
Like many other courses in the area that use Bermuda grass, Lee’s Hill is still recovering from a long, harsh winter (by Virginia standards anyways) and while the grass for the fairways and rough is just now starting to grow in, I found the overall playing conditions much better than similar courses down in the Richmond area I live in. The greens in particular are in excellent shape: lush, green, and already nearly completely recovered from the previous aeration. The bunkers too are well groomed, the fairways are still short but also even, the tee boxes are just ok.
The layout here is pretty good with plenty of shot-shaping to be had off the tee and occasionally on approach. Several water hazards will make you think twice and bunkers abound but are rarely very penal. A nice touch are plaques sprinkled throughout the course informing you of your proximity to old Civil War sites. Where else can you play golf and stand in an old confederate battle trench (not at the same time, the ditches are not in play).
The staff is very welcoming and gave me the option of pairing up or playing alone (that’s rare these days) and there was a marshall that kept pace of play moving along pretty well. It took 30 minutes to complete the first two holes but things picked up and I ended up finishing in less than 3.5 hours.
The off-course facilities seemed pretty standard (I didn’t see the driving range from the putting green but I assume it was around somewhere). I paid just $27 for an afternoon weekday round on GolfNow and that makes this course a very good value, I would definitely recommend to anyone not looking to travel too far out from Fredericksburg (The Gauntlet is another great course but a bit of a drive, especially with any kind of traffic).
Snails pace
It’s eatly April and it hasn’t rained much this spring so we weren’t expecting much. It was a beautiful Saturday and I think the course overbooked themselves. It took nearly 4 hours to play the front 9. We ended up only playing 3 holes on the back 9. Some holes had a 30 minute wait to tee off. Unfortunately we will not be back.
Lee's Hill
As usual, the staff at Lee's Hill was very nice. The course was in great shape considering it snowed on Wednesday and melted on Thursday. The greens ran true and all but one bunker was playable. Good job as always, look forward to playing there again soon.
Average course, could've been better experience if wasn't for rude staffs
Average course, average condition. It's like my first time again, since it's been decade last time I played before I moved CA.
Golfing experience would have been enjoyable if it wasn't for rude staffs, don't greet you proper way.
As soon as I walked in, without a smile or hello, [no smile could've been ok but their attitude was like what???]] Demanded me to provide the proof I booked via golfnow, instead asking nicely.
[i was in my office dress with shirts and expensive pants, not as a red-neck (no offense, please) so don't know how could I have offended the pro-shop as I walked in. Maybe I was Asian ? I was only Asian there.
Although, the golfers I played, hooked up with were very very nice.
Trying to tell me where and how far to hit, but they only played 9 holes.
For the back nine, the foursome in front of me wouldn't let me pass, asking me to hit 3 or 4 balls by myself. Lol. Wow.
Another single eventually joined me at 2nd hole.
Got to play only 4 holes and got dark. Geez these foursomes took 35 min each on hole and wouldn't anybody pass.
Overall, DID NOT enjoy this, the rating I see is way over rated.
I should have gone to Pendleton , which is far better Course.
Great course
Staff is friendly and the course is in good shape. It's not the most interesting layout, but it's pretty open and enjoyable. No real elevation changes. I would play here more if I lived a little closer. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth your time to play.
Loved this course!
My buddy and i really liked this course. Good layout! Fair landing areas/fairways! GREENS were excellent, especially for this time of year! Will play again, several times!
Fun golf course
Course conditions were good with tees greens and fairways all in good shape. Pace of play was excellent and staff were friendly and helpful. Very good value for the money
