Course overbooked
Starting time was delayed 40 minutes later than booked tee time! Then, 10 minutes wait time on each tee box thereafter! Would have been a 5.5 hour round -- too slow! Course was obviuosly overbooked! Quit after nine. Nice course, but!!!
Horribly Slow Saturday Golf
I knew something was amiss when there was no place to park my car. The lot was completely full. After finding a spot on the grass, I checked in and met my 4-some. We finally teed off about 40 minutes after our tee time. After spending another 2:55 to finish the front 9, I packed it in and went home. Note that a course marshall/ranger was no where to be seen, although I'm not sure what he could have done anyhow - the course was just overloaded.
The starter needs to be replaced
He was honestly useless. Terrible pace today, before home 1, I waved him down to let us know when we were and he nodded saying “ok” looking clueless and driving by. Hope he was a volunteer
A little muddy
Almost always playing here, course has a tendency to be a bit muddy. Not really a problem, but feel sorry for the grounds crew, as so many knuckleheads out there just proceed to drive right through the soggy areas & tear up the course. I cant understand why management doesn't rope off some of the areas that are "always wet" to prevent the course from getting torn up?? Fairways always seems to have tons of divots.....but have to say, both times I played there this year, cart had NO SAND!!! I'm one of those players that tries to fill 5 -6 divots while cart partner is hitting to keep courses in good shape ( and to make up for the hackers who don't!), but hard to do when no sand on the carts!!! I usually end my round with all sand containers empty. I would also suggest to have sand boxes on Par 3 tees so divots there again can be filled. I guess helping to keep courses groomed is a pet peeve for me!! All in all, course is in good shape, tee to green & greens run true. Again, does NO ONE fix ball marks any more??? Overall, good value for the money...I will play again.
Slow play
Had 1:15 tee time, was unable to finish 18th hole at 6pm because of darkness. Pace of play is very slow. They overbook the tee times.
Cypress Creek
Cypress Creek in its day must have been something. That day wasn't yesterday.
My group had a 115 pm tee time that eventually got off at 140pm which gave us just enough time to finish 15 holes before dark. The course takes no ownership of anything other than the money they collect. No one was even there to care.
The course was wet and dormant, always a tough day, Which I accept but what i cant accept is why the owners and staff can't make the experience better.
- Why no ranger?
- why no commitment to efficient play?
- how can you go almost 6 hrs on a course and the only person you see is the beverage woman?
i put all this on the GM, owner, and pro (or board)...be better at your job.
put proper rules in place. get better staffing. charge a little more money. as i drove in at dark, I was quite aware of the quality of the players in front of me, less skilled, which doesn't equal slow play by the way, but it means that your price point attracts players looking at price, which means you need people to keep things moving.
It's tiring to see the same movie at all of these communities. Aging golf courses, non-supportive housing owners, and cash-grabbing course owners draining the business.
Here it is people. Cypress was once great, but not anymore. The course is plenty hard, conditions will vary, play will always be slow and you will say this place must have been great once.
Players yesterday showed a very LGIQ. Lots of great high school baseball players from the seventies and eighties playing the wrong tees and a number of husbands being good partners dragging their wives to their annual round of golf (FYI do that at top golf, more fun for them).
a couple of things we should all remember. Right after Einstein tackled physics, he created a Golf Algo that always works..... Cost per round x course rating divided by slope equals AVOID.
when high-ranked( by difficulty) courses get cheap you will have super slow play....
I know 420 minute rounds exist somewhere but not at Cypress. take a pass on the this place.
FYI. new nets on range are awesome. and the range balls were very good and the tees are grass.
Good Course in Good Conditions
Greens a little slow but generally the course is in good condition. Its good value for the money and we will play here again. In fact, we've already booked a tee time for next week.
We had a 4some that often wasted time talking to each other on the teebox and were excessively slow. It was a 5 hour round. A ranger should ave come by and hurried them along. They were completely unconcerned about how slow they were.
Great Course but…
I played this course yesterday. First, the driving range was all eaten up and it was hard to find a spot to hit balls that wasn’t covered in divots. I had an early morning tee time and that was such a great idea. By the time I got to the turn the course was backed up. There was a really slow group ahead. I wish the ranger would’ve gotten on them to speed up. Overall, the course was in good shape. There are some very difficult tee shots from the blue tees. Having never played, I struggled to know where to start the ball and it bit me a few times. I would give this course an amazing review but… the pins were IMPOSSIBLE. I don’t mind a tucked pin or two that I have to hit away from but every pin was tucked nearly. Not only were they tucked but they were placed on odd spots of the green. Sometimes they were only a yard or two off the side of the green. Every putt you had to play defense because a put 6” past would go 12’ by for another impossible putt. I don’t mind putting defensively because of pace of a green or it is a difficult putt but this made the greens nearly unplayable. Again, I don’t mind a hard course or hard greens but this got ridiculous at points.
All that being said, I will return just to see if the pin placement gets any better. I hope my next time there breeds a better playing experience.
Great day!
The course is not easy but is fun. The greens are small and fast and the layout makes you think hard about club selection. Brand new carts along with a very nice range, 19th-hole type of food/beer stop, and a friendly cart girl made for a very nice day out. Lots of birds and natural scenery (not just houses like most courses) along most holes. Well worth the price IMO.
First and last
The course was stupidly overbooked, it genuinely took me 1 hours to play the first 2 holes. I got to the course at 2:45 and wasn’t able to finish even the front 9 before the sun went down. There is no starter so it was a free for all on the first tee box, the entire course is dead grass, the carts didn’t even have sand nor did the tee boxes, the greens looked like mud, the layout has multiple tee boxes within 10-15 yards of greens.
Really upset with how I was told this was a really nice course it was very challenging but it was not in anyway good condition. Greens were garbage and so were the fairways may be back but i doubt it
Challenging narrow & flat
Not so long course, but still tricky with narrow landing zones. Obviously they are doing their best to make a really good course out there.
Not Again
Started 20 min late, had to quit after 14, too dark. Was very slow, over booked and no rangers.
Excellent course
First time playing and will be back for sure. Course is in great condition and the staff are friendly. Recommend to all.
