Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Spanish Trail Country Club is a 27-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Founded in 1984, the club is one of the oldest in Las Vegas. The holes are divided into three nines, which can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Lakes Course is the longest of the three combinations and it begins with the most difficult of the nines. The Canyon is a desert-style course with a final stretch of holes that will test even the best players. The seventh through ninth holes feature a bevy of hazards, ending with an elevated green surrounded by cavernous bunkers. As you could have guessed from the name, the back nine, the Lakes, has water coming into play on six holes. Due to the fast and undulating greens throughout the entire golf course, accuracy on your approaches is key.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
108 degree golfer
Played Sunrise and Canyon both in great shape good variety on each course look forward to playing Lakes
Greens
course in great condition. Greens some of the best in Vegas
Good layout in great condition
Did not use the restaurant, but the golf shop staff/course layout/course condition made the 18 holes an enjoyable golf experience.
Good course
The staff wasn't very friendly and the course was only in average shape. The sand in the bunkers was rocky and packed and there were some dead patches in the grass. The greens were in good shape and rolled pretty fast. The practice facilities were great.
I'd recommend playing but not for anything more than $50 - I paid $59 and would have rather went somewhere else for that price.
Embarrassed
Got to course to check in. At check in was told there was a $5.00 charge for 2 bottles of water plus use of the GPS plus range balls. When I asked why we were not told about this when we made the tee times he said well what did you pay for golf. I told him I paid just what was asked for the tee time. He then said ' oh you booked on Golf now. A little later he came up to me out side where there were a few players and some staff and said you can not were basket ball shorts out here so do not were them again. I had on a complete matching outfit I wore because I was going to I thought a classy place. I told I had wore this out here many times before and no one said anything. I was upset that he said this in front of players instead of pulling me aside and telling me in private it was rather embarrassing.
They need training in better people skills.
Putting greens like glass
This course is so perfectly maintained. The greens are some of the only in Vegas (@ a reasonable rate) that you can see the line and it actually stays on it! Pro status!! Charged me an extra $5 at the pro shop for water and practice facility usage. But, got a hot deal for $29 at 7:30 am. Spectacular course!!!!
Just ok
First time playing Spanish Trail and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I thought that the golf course on a prestigious community would be a bit nicer but I have to give it a bit of a break because I was told it was just bought out after a backrupsty. The greens were really nice but the tee boxes and fairways weren't the best. If it is open for public play next year I will give it a shot.
challenging course
Course is in really good shape, staff is friendly, took me 3 hours to finish, will definitely play here again....
Top ten in Vegas!
greatcourse.smooth greens.2hrs45.$17 from Orleans.
Hidden fees and very slow pace.
They charge you more money when you get to the course for bottle water, range balls, and to use their GPS. Never have I had to pay more money when using Golfnow to book my tee time. There is nowhere saying that we would have to pay more. Also the pace was so slow that the other 2 some that got paired up with us quit after 9 holes and they were from out of town. We would have taken 5 1/2 hours or maybe 6 hours to complete the round. But we had to quit also. There is no Marshall to check on the course. Won't be going there again.
So much potential...
Atrocious experience. Took 3+ hours to play 8 holes, only saw water cart once. Every hole had serious issues with grounds under repair and there were no marshalls to be seen to improve play.
Paid for 18, walked off at 9.
great value close to the strip
country club style, well kept condition! green and fairway are in great condition.
panoramic
I had a wonderful time. Will play it again. the fairways are wide, bunkers are easy to get out off. gps was ok.the staff were great.
Challenging course
Sunrise course was more enjoyable than canyon course.
nice course
nice course, great weather. staff was friendly. greens were fairly tough and difficult 'to stop'.
this course needs
Need to be more staff & friendly, sand bunkers need to be maintained, 70% of bunkers wet, poor service no assistance from anyone
Three great 9 hole courses.
These three 9 hole courses have great design and challenging holes. Each course gives you a different feel. The green were pretty fast. Had a great time except for the lightning delay which was unusual for Vegas.
Spanish Trail
Fairways and greens excellent condition. Driving range a little small.
Great Facility, but more totos needed
We played the Sunrise and Canyon 9's. I thought Sunrise was one of the best 9 holes I've ever played. Gorgeous layout and well maintained. Canyon was very good too, but the only bathroom we saw was not easily accessible. So be prepared and hit the club house between 9's if you're an old guy.
