Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club
About
Spanish Trail Country Club is a 27-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Founded in 1984, the club is one of the oldest in Las Vegas. The holes are divided into three nines, which can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Lakes Course is the longest of the three combinations and it begins with the most difficult of the nines. The Canyon is a desert-style course with a final stretch of holes that will test even the best players. The seventh through ninth holes feature a bevy of hazards, ending with an elevated green surrounded by cavernous bunkers. As you could have guessed from the name, the back nine, the Lakes, has water coming into play on six holes. Due to the fast and undulating greens throughout the entire golf course, accuracy on your approaches is key.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012

Great course with spectacular views.
In great shape.
Great course but poor time managenet
No control on pace of play with groups of six and five stalling play to 6 hour rounds.
Nice Course for the Money
Very nice course in a semi-private Country Club atmosphere. Was looking for a desert course, which this is not, but had some very nice views with Mountains on horizon. Lakes course was still growing from overseed and fairways/tee boxes were a little furry and needed a trim. I paid $39 on golf now while the guys I was paired up paid $135. Great course for $39 but would have been a little disappointed at $135 given I was looking for a course in the desert and overseeding.
Spanish trails
Very nice... I don't normally take the time to write a review but this was a nice track.
Excellent day of golf
Could not ask for better day of golf, very challenging course. Very friendly staff. Can not wait play again!
nice course, would play again.
Two nines had completely different grass in fairways. Generous landing areas, large greens.
Good for the money
Nice place to play if you're in Vegas. I played the Sunrise and the Lakes courses. The Sunrise was decent but the Lakes had to be one of the toughest courses I've played in Vegas and believe me over played a lot. The only true set back to them both is that the greens weren't as nice as they should be as they had issues with the growth on the edges and sometimes even scattered all over them, but for $39 I really had a good time and enjoyed myself.
Magnifique !
Nous avons beaucoup aimé ce terrain, l'environnement est magnifique et le terrain superbe.
overseeding time
1 of the 3 9s was closed... 1 was just opened so it was not in the kind of shape that the members are usually playing. the 1 nine was really nice,, great fast greens and plush tight fairways.. Will look to play there again.
Spanish Trails a great trip
Greens in great condition as were fairways. Bunkers were tooooo hard (gravel and some rocks) so stay out of bunkers.
Absolutely beautifl scenery
Very windy 20 to 40mph. Course is beautiful.
For the end of summer the greens and fairways were good, they weren't great. Can't imagine how good it would be when it wasn't 100 degrees for the previous 100or so days
Bad Course Maintenance
I was really looking forward to playing here since it is a semi-private course. I was immediately disappointed with the course conditions. I was expecting the usual excellent private course maintenance. There was overseeding on the Sunrise course but it didn't effect the way the course looked or played. The grass has many brown patches and weeds. The greens had a lot of pitch marks. The staff was very friendly. It was not worth the price we paid. There are better value courses around. I think this course is worth a $30 green fee. I believe this place has seen better days.
Great track, but one 9 is being seeded
This is my first time playing this course I knew it was over seeding season. The first nine was great and played fast because it was not over seed. The second nine was over seeded slow and had super long rough. On both nines the sand traps were hard as concrete, would be nice if they had some in them. The service was very friendly in the pro shop and the cart ladies were super too. I would like to come back in high season to see if I can shoot better than 11 over. The houses on the course are amazing, if your into 5 to 15 million dollar homes.
Only worth it for a deal.
Could be pricey. Finding a deal hear is worth it as it can cost you over a hundred bucks.
Nice course, unfriendly members
Althoughh the course was nice, lots of water and bunker placement. Staff great! BUT.......private members came up on us and although we WERE NOT off pace of play.......insisted that we let them play though us .....and when we did not (only had four holes left) the group begain yelling, cursing and hitting into to our group. Would recommend playing this course at least once, but I will not return there due to the rudenedss!
gem in the desert
We were in Las Vegas for our honeymoon and decided to play a couple courses while there. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Spanish trails. The course was difficult but not too difficult for us as weekend golfers. The greens were a little rough but still had good speed. We did lose quite few balls in the water but I guess that's why they call it the lakes course! The landscaping is mature and beautiful and the staff was incredibly nice. Highly recommend giving them a try.
Beautiful layout
The course has some very picturesque holes, with a fair amount of water in play. The bunkers were in very bad condition the day we played likely caused by the recent flash flooding in the area. Overall a very nice course with the exception of bunker situation and a few rough spots on the edge of the greens.
The club house was gorgeous, but the snack bar closes at 4 ( too late for us when we were making our turn) and we didn't see a refreshment cart until the 17th hole.
Good choice
Course is not perfect as many course s around Vegas but in general it's ok
cant complain very nice
pretty good conditions for the time of year everyone was pretty nice and helpful would and will play again an easy drive from the Monte Carlo hotel. For the first time playing the course was easy to navigate arrows on the cart paths send you in the right direction.
Just want to say thanks to the staff for a great round of golf
forgot to mention this is a great value for your money
like this course
the course is always in good shape a little rough this time due to over seeding still a very good course
