Canyon/Lakes at Spanish Trail Country Club

About
Spanish Trail Country Club is a 27-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Founded in 1984, the club is one of the oldest in Las Vegas. The holes are divided into three nines, which can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Lakes Course is the longest of the three combinations and it begins with the most difficult of the nines. The Canyon is a desert-style course with a final stretch of holes that will test even the best players. The seventh through ninth holes feature a bevy of hazards, ending with an elevated green surrounded by cavernous bunkers. As you could have guessed from the name, the back nine, the Lakes, has water coming into play on six holes. Due to the fast and undulating greens throughout the entire golf course, accuracy on your approaches is key.

Par 3 - Spanish Trail Photo submitted by Bissonpa on 11/26/2012
Nice course
Course was in good shape except for one thing.....the bunkers were like hitting off concrete. No real way to control the shot out of the bunker as you couldn't get under the ball.
Fun and challenging course
Beautiful course, challenging due to all the water. But I'll be back.
Beautiful golf resort
This was a really fun course to play. Lots of water and bunkers. Upscale from the club house to the course. Don't know that it's worth the full asking price but it was worth the golf now hit deal.
Great Routing- fun for all folks
The course was in really good shape, with just some spotty rough near the greens. Greens were hard and fast, so approaches were at a premium
Best greens
Had a 5some in front of us all day that slowed play but otherwise was a great outing
Too much driving
The water is gorgeous on this course and that alone was worth a full star. Felt like at times a lot of driving between holes. Other than the water holes a fairly standard course, nothing that stood out. Nice but I don't recall any but one hole just three days later
Great Course. Lots of golfers.
Enjoyed playing Spanish Trail. Course conditions were immaculate. I was a single and went out about 2 PM in the afternoon. My expectation when playing single is to have some waiting. I was able to play the Canyon Nine w/minimal delays. The Lakes nine was stacked with golfers on every hole. I played 4 holes and got impatient and returned to the clubhouse. I was approximately 5:30. Great course with lots of players so don't be in a hurry.
As far as customer service Not being a member I felt like I was treated like a second citizen. Including given a dirty cart. Course was beautiful but looks a little worse for wear. Now that I've gone no need to go back.
Some good and some bad.
A not bad course but certainly not worth the fee even as a hot deal. Greens were for sure the highlight but fairways, tee boxes and bunkers were all pretty ordinary. Oh ya, a magic $5 fee on arrival to cover the range, a bottle of water in the cooler and the cart GPS.
Challenging Course/ Avoid The Bunkers
Challenging layout from the back tees, the Lakes course features alot of water in play and demands accuracy with your irons. The Sunrise course is more open with bunkers and some trees as the defense. Course was in decent shape with the greens and fairways well maintained and the rough being a little patchy. The Bunkers as mentioned in previous posts are lacking sand and I bladed both green side shots I had due to this. Overall it was an enjoyable 4 hour round a short drive from the strip and very affordable compared to other options in the area.
maybe once in a while place
ground was extremely dry but green was ok to putt. booked prepaid thru golfnow but was told "10 dollars please" on check in. no explanation of why or what for. assumed it's some kind of additional resort fee - definitely an indication of staff arrogance/attitude. flow wasn't smooth. waited for the front group and pushed by the tee behind on many holes. will come back to take on the challenge but for nothing else.
Good Choice
Very good course. Would play it again. Don't hesitate to play here. Pace of play will be about 4 hours.
Good pace of play
Pace was good. Course was in decent shape, greens were tight and rolling fast.
Great rate, completed round in just under 4 hours.
WINDY
there was a wind warning so no one else on the course.
