Hidden in the folds of the Southern Nevada desert is the lush oasis of Rhodes Ranch Golf Club. The abundance and variety of water features characterize the golf course. Ponds and lakes come into play frequently. There are also mature palms lining the gently rolling fairways and generous greens. The club is known for the immaculate maintenance of the verdant tropical landscape. The course is player-friendly while at the same time offering Las Vegas golfers some unexpected challenges. The layout boasts a set of four impressive par 3s including the scenic third hole, which requires a tee shot over a pond. The designer, Ted Robinson, touted the holes as the best he's ever designed. Rolling mounds and strategic bunkering as well as the occasional multi-tiered green make the golf course more difficult, but there are wide fairways and ample landing areas to provide a balance. The playability of the course combined with the reasonable rates, especially for Las Vegas golf, has earned the club a popular following.

Surprised and exceeded expectations

I've played this course twice before and during those rounds play was slow and it was incredibly hot (summer in Vegas). I decided to give it another shot since it had been years and what I remembered I liked the course layout. For this third time around, I was very pleasantly surprised. First, in full disclosure I played this course the Saturday morning before hurricane Hilary was supposed to hit Las Vegas and flood the city. It rained the evening before so I thought the course would be soaked and closed. After calling the pro shop and confirming they are open, I arrived for my early tee time. First, despite of all the rain the night before the fairways and greens were in outstanding shape. Not too many divots or standing water - as you would expect the course to be after a downpour the night before. Their drainage system must be pretty good. The greens were in great shape as well and ran a bit slow which I really like. Makes putting a bit easier and not like you are putting on glass. And maybe because the round was hours before the hurricane was forecasted to hit Las Vegas, the round played at a very good pace. It was the standard 4:15 to 4:30 round for 18. Did not have to wait at all and pace of play was great. Needless to say, got in and out before the storm hit the city. The course was in fantastic shape from tee box, to fairway, to greens. And pace of play (which, normally is a criticism for this course) was good. And since the hurricane was slowly approaching, what is normally a 105F degree day in Vegas for mid-August it was only 85F. Couldn't ask for better weather.

Poor Customer Service

Staff had poor customer service after a cancellation of one of our players. A refund was requested and we already understood if it didn’t happen, but wanted to check as things happen and sometimes the club does understand unusual circumstances. The attitude was unacceptable and the rudeness that came with the no. The attendant was disrespectful in his response instead of just a simple, sorry I’m unable to do it. Myself and the other players in the group were offended. We were eager to get on the course and didn’t deal with any denial of the cancellation on our end, it was only a question. We have been frequent local players of the course, but now the staff has put us in a position to choose other courses to play in the future and not recommend it.

- Pros

- Great course condition

- Good variety of hole design throughout

- Cart girl and bar tenders were attentive and

welcoming

- Cons

- Pro shop was unfriendly

- No ice or waters provided in cart coolers

- Pay for range balls

- Unfriendly locals backing up pace of play

Really liked the course, really disliked the vibe but might’ve just been some bad apples or a tough day.

Teetimes too close together

This course is amazing. It’s always in great shape. The only issue is they put teetimes too close together in the Marshall is not very proactive. At speeding people up.

Very good local course. Will be back!

Course was in great condition.

Positives:

1. The course is in great shape! The tee boxes, greens, fairways, all very well kept.

2. Clubhouse staff friendly and good food

3. Fair greens fees

Room for Improvement:

1. Need an additional cart girl

2. Miss the ready to eat food available on the grille at the turn

3. We waited 1-10 minutes on every tee box

4. Carts do not offer USB plugs or GPS

5. No waters or towels provided

HORRIBLE pace of play-5 hours and 9 min.

Not planning to return any time soon-we’ve had this issue every time we’ve played here. No adults taking responsibility to enforce pace of play…ridiculous that they have no ranger on the course but they staff someone on 18 looking for tips to clean your clubs….plenty of time to clean my own clubs while waiting at EVERY SINGLE TEE BOX! We hit the 4 hour mark while waiting to tee off on hole 15. Other courses in the valley don’t have this issue so perhaps this place needs new management.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced

I played here at 9:40am on Friday June 23rd. I had just finished a round at Siena and wanted to play again so I booked a tee time here. I’m a scratch golfer who’s been playing golf for 30 years. I play multiple times a week, every week so let’s just say I’ve played a lot. My experience yesterday at Rhodes Ranch was literally the worst experience I’ve had in 30 years! I walked into the pro shop with my girlfriend to pay for the round. My girlfriend was riding so I was expecting to pay a rider fee. Not a problem. The woman behind the counter charges me for my green fee and a $25 rider fee. I say okay, not a problem. Then the lady behind the counter says that my girlfriends shirt doesn’t have a collar and that she needs to buy a shirt with a collar. I say, are you serious? She’s not even playing. I’m wearing a collar so it shouldn’t be a problem. I literally just played Sienna that morning and nobody said anything about my girlfriends attire. Then the guy behind the counter raises his voice at me and says we’ll you should read our dress code policy. I wasn’t even talking to him but he chimes in with attitude. I told my girlfriend let’s just go. She shouldn’t have to buy a shirt just so that she can ride in the cart. So we walk back to my car ready to choose another course. Rhodes Ranch is willing to lose over $100 worth of business (and future business) because my girlfriend who isn’t even playing doesn’t have a collared shirt. As I’m in my car, I told my girlfriend I hope they still don’t try to charge me for my round of golf since I’m not playing now. So I walk back into the pro shop just to make sure I’m not charged. The guy behind the counter tells me that yes, he was planning on charging me full price for the round even though I wasn’t playing. I said, are you kidding me? I said the right thing to do is to not charge me since I’m not even playing. He says (with a raised voice and attitude) the right thing to do is have your girlfriend wear a collared shirt!!! I’m like is this guy really raising his voice and giving me attitude over my rider not having a collared shirt?!? My girlfriend had a jacket with her so I asked is it okay if she wears this jacket instead of having to buy a brand new shirt. He says, as long as she wears the jacket the entire round! It’s 100 degrees outside!!! He expects her to wear a jacket in 100 degree weather because he’s having a bad day!?!? I’ve worked at golf courses before. I’ve managed restaurants. I’ve worked in customer service basically my whole life. This is NOT how you treat guests at your establishment. If they would’ve just told me nicely that that’s their policy then I wouldn’t be writing this review. But the fact that he raised his voice with attitude is the reason I’m writing this. He didn’t check my ID for the discounted resident rate or check my playing partners ID for the same rate. So obviously not ALL rules are followed but you want to pick and choose which rules are being enforced. That’s ridiculous. I ended up spending $60 on a new shirt for my girlfriend and chose to play because they were going to charge me anyway. I will not play here again. I highly recommend other people to look elsewhere when looking for a course to play. I recommend Sienna which is 15 minutes down the road from here. Much better customer service. Hopefully the people involved in this review see this and change their attitude when it comes to guests.

Great course and great price

Played at 9:30 on a Thursday was done in about 1:45 so 4 hours 15 minutes without much waiting between shots. Course is in great shape , few bumps on greens from last punched but not bad at all. Staff is friendly and the layout is fun and fair for all skill levels. Will definitely be back.

Great Course

This was my first time playing this course and I loved it. I thought it was very well maintained and it was just challenging enough. 1 of the guys in our foursome hit a hole in one on the 14th hole (shoutout to Bruce!) and that definitely added to the enjoyment of the round haha. Definitely would recommend this place to others and I will play again soon.

Great course…Marshall a bit lost and rude

Course was great, fairways nice, greens were good although they had just punched and top dressed but still rolled well. Only negative the Marshall had no idea what he was doing. Clearly stated on the cart expected play was 4:30 we played in 4:15. The group in front of us were playing a little faster and got ahead. The group behind us were getting to the tee as we were clearing the green and every time he stopped us and said we were behind pace and needed to speed up, we were managing pace and never once had to be waited on.. You try and speed groups up when they are holding up groups behind, if not leave groups alone and let them enjoy the round.. beside that it was great but he got annoying real quick.
