Great Stay & Play at the Westgate Opportunity
The Las Vegas Country Club is an amazing private club course right in the heart of Las Vegas m. Was in town for work staying at The Westgate resort & learned staying at the Westgate allows you to play this historic private course .I have played several courses in Vegas and absolutely recommend if you have the opportunity to play this course.
Old School Cool
This course has been on my Vegas list for years, a stay at the Westgate was all it took to get access. This is an old school Oasis style golf course that the hotels built before water was a concern. Originally there was LVCC, The Desert Inn CC, The Dunes CC and The Sahara CC (now Las Vegas National). The Dunes and the DI were bulldozed in the 90's to make way for new Casinos. In any case the Oasis style once the norm is now the exception and IMO still the most fun to play. Wide fairways, lots of grass and no desert to lose your ball but plenty of water hazards. The course was in great shape especially for the between season. Greens rolled true and fairways were naturally green there was some dormant bermuda in the rough which is a cool look. Interesting holes there was a sameness to the par 3's all had water front right and similar yardages. I really liked the par 5's 9 and 18 are reachable par 5s with water in front and the clubhouse behind.. Just a classic course that embraces ihistory. The plane in the pond on 10 with accompanying plaque and Lefty Rosenthals house to the left of 15 will be familiar to fans of the movie Casino. Highly recommend LVCC if you get a chance not only one of the best conditioned courses but one of the coolest as well. Have a cocktail on the patio by the Dean Martin Statue and try to imagine all the characters who have sat there before you. Can't beat it.
Great Golf Course
1 do 7-8 Student/Client Golf Trips a Year, from Denver, Colorado. Las Vegas Country Club is one of the Best that we have played. The golf course was in "Tour Quality Shape:", and the Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Cannot wait to go back....
Must play in Las Vegas
The Las Vegas Country Club never disappoints. The classic and iconic course is a must play every time I go to LV. The course was in excellent condition, as usual. From the moment you walk in, everyone makes you feel welcome. The pace of play was great, staff was attentive and they had fans on every green for heat relief. After the round we hung in the bar for a fantastic lunch and a few drinks. If I can only play one course on a trip, it is the LV CC.
Classic
Played LVCC on a Thursday afternoon during recent group outing to Las Vegas. A couple folks in our group were staying at the Westgate which gave us access to this otherwise private club. Greens fees were around $80, which very reasonable for Vegas. It ended up being a great day.
The course is a classic parkland design in an area where desert “target golf” style courses abound. Several of the tree lined fairways are pinched with bunkers in the landing areas. The 3 pars all have water fronting the right side of the green. There are a couple of par 5s that are shorter, but have water in front of the greens making it a risky proposition to go for the green in two.
Course conditions were great. Fairways were cut just right. Greens were not horribly fast and were consistent in how they received approaches. Bunkers had plenty of sand, which is not always the case at courses in Vegas and the sand was consistent in how it played.
The driving range features turf mats but otherwise is fine for a warm up. There is a nice putting green and short game practice area.
The staff was pleasant and welcomed us with all the information we needed. The pace of play seemed fine, though a couple of members in a hurry (in their custom carts) played through. The clubhouse has a small food counter, but no bar for a post-round drink that I could find. Guests are segregated from members in some areas, but that’s their prerogative as a private club.
Overall, we had a nice afternoon at LVCC. I have played several courses in Las Vegas, and the overall experience here ranks right up there with the best. If you can get access to the course, try it out.
Love It!
Old school golf course. Great fairways, great greens and friendly folks. Had the chance to meet/talk to some of the members, great stories about he 60"s &70"s scene at the clubhouse. Great pictures hanging on the wall of the stars that played that course...just Vegas cool! Great practice range and pace of play, too.
Historic LVCC
As a Las Vegas local this is a course I've been wanting to play for some time, and it definitely didn't disappoint. Everything was first class from arrival at the bag drop to drinks at the bar afterwards. The greens ran true and were not lacking in speed. To top it all off, where else can you stand on the tee box and say "aim between the Wynn and Encore."
Must play LVCC
Have been wanting to play this historical track for a while. Beautiful parkland setting, traditional style golf course. Private club, it is a true privilege to play (Must stay at Westgate to get access). Bag drop and pro shop staff very nice and accommodating. Practice facility is good, practice green is consistent with course greens, smooth (like glass), roll true and lightening fast! Picturesque through established gated community, awesome views of the strip. All holes were challenging with everything in front of you...a real dream to play. Refreshment shack on 3 and 14, attendant was super nice (take care of him...very helpful and had stories to share)...all in all a great golf day. At just $80 (that included green fees, cart, bottled water and range privileges) it was a great value. We will paly it again. Only minor issue is some re-seeding on 18 fairway...not a bother though.
Beautiful old style course
I've played this course several times over the past 2 years and since they completed the renovations and greens rebuilding back in 2010. The course has always been in excellent condition. Greens run quick and true. Old style design with grass wall to wall. Some large trees line many of the fairways and if you hit it offline you will have to be inventive. Water comes into play on several holes, including 17 and 18 so those holes can turn a match around fast.
It's private, and occasionally they have play deals with local hotels and casinos.
Great downtown course if you can get on
Very nice all around. Just overseeded, so lush and bright green, and very picturesque. Pace of play is phenomenal. Greens were excellent. Course layout is very good as each hole plays a little differently than the last, and the views of the casinos are a real bonus. You must get the complete history of this course and it's members as well. Makes the round very nostalgic. The clubhouse experience is amazing. New chef is awesome!!! Just a complete day of incredible golf and then some.
A great spot if you can negotiate around the members
This course is so close to The Strip, the convenience of playing here is obvious if you're staying in one of the big hotels. However, this course is very private and you'll need a connection to get a tee time. The members are older and I give most of them credit for their overall pace of play, however I do try to stay out of their way since it is their course...not mine. Most of the staff welcomes guests, but there are exceptions. The layout is very straightforward and simple with a premium on hitting accurate drives on most Par 4s and Par 5s. A number of holes do border other holes while the finishing stretch of 16-18 is set apart. Greens here are soft and quick. The snack shack between 3rd tee and 14th green has an excellent variety of cold beverages and it is always a bonus when Casey is the woman working it. Water comes into play on just a few holes, but it will gobble up anything short of both the ninth and eighteenth greens.
