Desert Pines Golf Club is often referred to as "The Pinehurst" of Las Vegas. It offers a Carolina sandhills experience, yet is conveniently located just minutes from downtown or the Strip. This Dye design features thousands of mature pine trees lining the well-groomed fairways where white sand bunkers protect large, undulating, bent grass greens. Because of the large number of pine trees, often times this course is cooler than other courses in the heat of the summer. Although there are no forced carries, water comes into play on 9 of the 18 holes.

Poor condition

Course was in poor condition. Almost no grass and trash in many side bushes.

Great Dye Layout

It is a great Dye layout, however golf technology has made it play shorter. Course in winter is dormant Bermuda with no overseeding. Would love to see it in the summer/fall months. Greens are bent and roll good. Undulating greens are the courses defense. Bunkers need a bit of attention with sand added in spots. Fun yet challenging course. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Go somewhere else

I think Pete Dye would be very sad to look at his creation now. The course is in horrible shape. What once was (as I recall from years ago) well maintained and somewhat beautiful has gone bad in all the ways possible. Realizing we played in early February we expected dormant rough but over seeded and green fairways, The rough was dormant but so were the fairways, The greens were green but in poor condition as no efforts have been made to fix ball marks or roll the greens. Often (unless you moved your ball) you are playing from bare ground in the fairways. The practice area was also run down with extremely old practice balls. Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Suggestion - Las Vegas Golf Club was in far better condition at half the price of Desert Pinces.

Meh.

Greens were decent but some holes had silly pin locations. Fairways were very dead. I just wanted to play one more time before they close down the course. I’d say play it if you never have but not worth replaying in my opinion. Staff was great though!

No grass in the fairways

This course was in terrible shape

They should be ashamed of themselves for charging $60

We will not be going back to this course anytime soon

The greens were not bad but the rest of the course was in horrible shape

Sorry just being honest

We saw the cart girl once the whole round

Please do not WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE !

Atrocious Conditions

The grass is dead everywhere, greens are torn up, bunkers are concrete, and pins in absolutely ridiculous locations. It seems like maintenance just stopped caring about the course since it’s rumored to be torn down this year. No snack bar or beverage carts roaming the course either. Our cart died on 15 and somebody had to bring a replacement. I did enjoy the layout and it was super quiet so we played 18 holes almost entirely uninterrupted but everything else was unfortunate. Thankfully this was a free round on my Arcis card because I don’t think I could justify paying more than $20 to play this course.

The worst golf course in my 40+ year golf career.

It was the worst golf course in my 40+ year golf career.

Almost all the grass is dead except for the green.

The cart path is bumpy and in some places it is half a foot high.

The bunker is mostly covered with about half an inch of sand and underneath that is a rocky mass.

Played 10 holes and skipped 7.

It's ok.

Iv heard the course will be closing soon so maybe thats why its gone down hill. Pin locations were terrible. Several pins were placed on the side of hill or right at the slop edge of the green making putts close to impossible. The range conditions are pretty terrible. The course itself wasnt in terrible shape but it has seen better days.

Trash

Overall, the course condition was good typical for a desert course. However, if the water was circulating and they picked up the trash off the golf course and out of the water, it would’ve been much more pleasant experience. Course management could work with players on fixing divots seemed like nobody cared to fix a divot on the greens. That was really bad. You can tell it’s a public course in Las Vegas Vegas.

Disappointed with the course maintenance but even more with the patrons

While we were paired up with a great father-son duo, and truly enjoyed the round, the course was pretty badly maintained. And I am not just talking about dry spots, or your regular hard sand traps, or forgotten waste areas. I am talking about trash everywhere, I’m talking about a range that looks like we are in 1985 in a park somewhere, I am talking about our cart almost dying on us because of low battery, I am talking about dirty and banged up rental clubs. And the fact that they closed the bar and pro-shop before we finished our round at 3:50pm.

The layout is great, the greens challenging, and overall a good course to play. The staff was super friendly and helpful. You could tell they were trying their best to get people going so no blame on the guys in and around the pro-shop.

If they could just take care of the small but important details, this would’ve been a higher rating from me.

A hidden gem

This course doesn't get enough appreciation it truly deserves. Mostly because the course is located in poor section of the town? But the layout is very good and challenging. There are some very short holes (#1 & #10 for example). This is my 'go-to' course whenever my home course is closed. For Vegas, this golf course is very affordable.
