Primm Valley Golf Club - Desert Course
About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2024.
Primm Valley Golf Club boasts two championship courses designed by Tom Fazio. On the Desert Course, Fazio fully utilized the rugged landscape and scenic views offered by the mountains in the distance. Like many of his designs, the Desert Course blends seamlessly into the beautiful surroundings. It is a straightforward layout with no hidden tricks but there are several strategically placed bunkers lurking beside the undulating greens to provide some challenges. The golf course also requires a few tricky forced carries. The fairways are generous and offer some room for error, making the course more appealing to beginners. In addition to the two golf courses, Primm Valley also offers extensive practice facilities that include a double-ended driving range, target greens, practice putting greens, and chipping and pitching greens with sand bunkers.

Windy bad, but had a good time
I've seen the course in better shape. Greens were very good, but the fairways needed some help. Wind in the morning made playing pretty difficult. Calmed on the back nine. Played the course many times without the wind so still recommend it. Can't control mother nature. Otherwise the staff and everything else were top notch.
Awesome
I had a great time playing the Desert Course. I came out as a Single and was paired up with three locals; everyone was super friendly and I couldn't have asked for a better day. Next time in Vegas, I will definitely make the short jump down to Primm Valley for another round.
nice course
a bad day playing golf beats a good day not playing golf.
Water please!
Loved playing this course, but there was no beverage person or water available on the course. One could go to the club house on the turn, but the weather was warm and no liquid available. We were able to play in a 2 some instead of having to join another duo, but the 2 groups in front were slow.
I'd recommend bringing water on any day to the course. We also had issues with the cart being out of "juiice" and had to push it uphill on the final 2 holes of the course. We commented on it to the cart return people, and they replied that they hear that all the time especially in the heat. Made me glad I hadn't played when it was warmer than 90 degrees.
Be careful how you get there
Directions to get to Primm Valley golf club on my GPS were all wrong. I went to two different locations given on my GPS before I finally called the golf course. It is all the way down the I 15 from Las Vegas until you cross the California border. Just a couple miles south of Primm Nevada. Once I got there, they took great care of us and we had a great time.
Course was a good value for the money
Have played both lakes and desert courses. Enjoyed the lakes more, it seemed to be in better condition and was more enjoyable.
Desert Course in Poor condition
Desert course was in poor condition. Fairways and greens. And the Lakes course was in pristine condition. You figure that out. Never again for the Desert course
Definitely worth the drive, Awesome Day!!
2nd time playing the Desert Course at Primm Valley Golf Course. We had a bit of a delay because of frost. It turns out I was joined up with a couple other guys, and we were given the ok to tee off first. We had an excellent pace of play, and the day had no wind and sunny weather. Fairways were not perfect due to seeding, but other than that, it was a perfect day. The staff awesome, and very helpful.
I will definitely go back to Primm, possibly to try the Lakes course next.
Thank You.
John
Must play while in Vegas
Excellent course and very challenging. Definitely worth the money and drive from Vegas. I would have played the course again on the following day except for the weather.
Great stop on the way to Vegas from So Cal
I booked a tee time at 11:00 on the Desert Course, to get in a round on the way into Las Vegas. This is a great stopping place to play, as it is right before the border of Nevada and California. It beats going into Las Vegas and then having to travel to North Las Vegas or Summerlin to get a good golfing experience that doesn't cost a fortune. I got a Hot Deal for $79 and this was a good price point.
For mid March, the course was in good condition, greens were in great shape and rolled will.
The staff at the course was great. Everyone from the cart attendants, the pro shop staff, beverage girls on course, and pub servers went above and beyond to be cheerful and helpful. They truly wanted to make the experience a great one.
I even forgot my golf shoes and the pro helped getting me a great pair with a discount. No resort pricing, like you feel your being ripped off. Great deal and a very comfortable pair of shoes.
Everyone here was great. Worth stopping by.
Not long, but challenging
I played the Desert Course at Primm Valley, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The scenery is wonderful, the greens are in very good shape, and the fairways are in pretty good shape. I was struck by how quiet it is. One can see Interstate 15 in the distance, but one can't hear it at all. Very quiet, very tranquil. I hope to go back in the not-too-distant future.
Great Value Outside of Las Vegas
This course is 40 minutes south of the Las Vegas strip and a great value. The drive is a straight shot and you get there before you know it. The views are great, the staff is friendly, and the course is worth the drive.
What a blast!!!!!
The course is great, as well as the staff. They were professional and helpful.
My only complain is that I live in LA and can not play there more often.
A windy desert round
Met a couple of great guys to play with and that compensated for the cool wind and rather slow pace
Nice get away for the City
The course is out on is own (No house to contend with) The GPS from golf now took us on a wild goose chase. The course is South of Prem a few miles.
Should have been told about the poor fairways.
The fairways had problems during reseeding and were not good at all.
Challenging with wind
Some of the fairways were a bit rough which definitely added to the challenge. The cold wind did not help either but it was a great day. The long holes and especially the par 3's were an added challenge. The staff was extremely pleasant especially in the clubhouse. My only complaint was when I booked my price was to include range balls and I had to pay for the balls. Perhaps this needs to be addressed.
