The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.
Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.
With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

We really enjoyed this course. 27 hole layout allows for variety- greens are very true- only a little more slick than our home course. Would highly recommend it and plan to play it again

Excellent Condition - much improved from the spring
I last played here in April and they had major problems with the fairways - perhaps the winter weather. The course is in great shape now with greens that roll true, excellent fairways and rough, and new sand in the traps.
The three nines are each unique and bring lots of variety. As a Shipyard property owner, I’m glad to see they’ve gotten the course back into good shape. I really enjoy playing here.
