The Brigantine/Clipper Course at Shipyard Golf Club combines two of the three nine-hole golf courses on the property for one of the more challenging tests on Hilton Head. Brigantine/Clipper has a rating of 73.5, with a slope of 135 from the championship tees.

Designed by Willard Byrd and built in 1982, alligators sun themselves along the scenic, water hazard-filled Brigantine nine holes. With slight doglegs and well-placed bunkers, this golf course requires shot making and a good short game.

With plenty of sand and water hazards, Clipper may be the most difficult of the nines. This George Cobb design requires a good long game and a soft touch around the greens.

Terrible golf course

We went to golf, my son and I and it was terrible. The starter was rude. Did not even want to give us any information where the first tea was. It just seemed like he couldn’t even be bothered and he didn’t wanna be. There was a complete idiot then he let a group of six people out in front of us which you’re not supposed to do and he did nothing about it. It was ridiculous. It took me like six hours to do our round finally I called a Ranger up and he came out and said that there was nothing that he could do and that’s just the way it is this place is terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody and also it was outrageously expensive for what you got. Don’t go there go to different places. It was terrible

Poor conditions

I have played this course many times over last 10 years when I come to the island this used to be a great course as far as conditions yesterday it' was horrible I get they areated recently however the fairways are horrible I can honestly say I will not be back

Shipyard Plantation

Shipyard has a great and fair layout. Staff is excellent, friendly and accommodating. Greens had been aeriated and fairways punched or I would rated higher. When healed, will be excellent experience for all caliber players.

It’s OK

It is not great, nor is it bad, it’s average! For the price I would have expected more. Meaning there are too many bare spots on a few tee boxes, trap conditions were so so and greens were a little slow. Would I play it again, yes, but after trying other courses in the area.
