About

Holes 18
Type Public
Style Links
Par 72
Length 7072 yards
Slope 125
Rating 74.5

Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.

Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.

Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.

The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.

Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Should be way cheaper

The course is fine if you're looking for a last minute, affordable round, but don't expect it to be anything special. The layout is decently fun and creative, but the conditions have been horrible for years, and seemingly without any efforts to improve. Even for $40-50, that price doesn't necessarily seem fair, when it doesn't feel like the money is going towards any course improvements.

Tired but playable

The City of Pflugerville, assuming they own , need to step up and maintain this course better. It’s a decent layout but vent few holes are in decent shape. Course is affordable and playable except for #10 which is far too close to Kelly Lane traffic. It’s very unsafe for the majority of golfers who may tend to to Alice the ball into an oncoming windshield. How do they get away without high fencing to protect the drivers?! This hole has been reduced to a short par 3 due to the construction. The golf course was there long before the development that encroaches it. Poor planning and management.

Excellent value

Where else can you pay for 18 holes with a cart and bucket of range balls for $30? The course conditions aren't the best but you're able to play for a hefty discount, I'll definitely go back!

Needs work, overpriced, overpacked. Great track in the past.

Im here to write an honest review because some of these reviews are optimistic and give credit where it isn’t due… yet.

I believe Blackhawk can come back, but it’s far from it currently. I’ve played Blackhawk for 15 years so I actually have a reference. They are overcharging and overbooking. The greens are still very rough and have crabgrass/bumps throughout. Fairways and tee boxes are bad too. They charge more than the other local municipals courses. WORST part is the groupings/ cart management. They didn’t have carts for people, well that’s because I saw multiple groups with four carts out there. 1 person per cart. Which makes zero sense if you are have a cart shortage. I also saw multiple groups exceed 4 golfers. I saw one group of 6 golfers and another group of 5 golfers and 2 girlfriends, that’s 7 people hanging out on the green… no wonder pace of play was slow.

This place has a nice track and I used to enjoy it a lot because it was worth the muni price. But poor management of pace of play, overcharging and greens/fairway have made this place not worth while. They are trying to squeeze out more money without fixing their issues. I really hope to see a turn around here. I’ll be back when they start acting like a real golf course and not a overpaid goat track with huge groups moving slowly. Good luck Blackhawk… get to work!

Improved greens, course is playable

The greens are better, they are smooth and roll. Tee boxes are average but fairways still very cracked and lack water. Overall course was rock hard, difficult to hold greens or take divots, but enjoyed the links layout, I would come back

Slow play

Slow players off of 1st tee. Sheriff told us he would come out and move them along but never did. Very slow play, takes you out of your game. Then on hole 10 the Sherrif came around to ask us if we hit a car on Kelly lane. It was the slow players that sliced the ball in front of us. Not sure what happened but it didn’t speed up the pace of play. I live at Blackhawk and never play it since city took over. Not a great course for the price. They could drop it by $15 and you would get more of a value for the conditions. Hole 17 is a mess..

Great value and not crowded.

It’s not the nicest course in town but it is a great value for the money. Course is challenging and has really come along way in the last year. The greens are well maintained and in good shape. It’s my go to course for a quick round during the week. Pace is a little slow on the weekends but not over 5 hours usually.
