About

Style Links
Par 72
Length 7072 yards
Slope 125
Rating 74.5

Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.

Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.

Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.

The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.

Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Out of the norm experience - For all the 'adventurers' out there

I reserved this course on Saturday morning at the prime time, because this course was the only one available, and I knew what I would get, since I've read numerous reviews about this course.

However, is the game of Golf always have to be played in the most perfect weather at the most perfect condition? Often times maybe not.

So venturing into the world of 'unknown' sometimes makes us face some of the most out of the norm experience to people, and sometimes that's what life throws at you.

This course will test your utmost skills of Golf, in the areas of 'adaptability.' Unlike most of the golf courses, in addition to the typical hazard of water, roughs, and bunkers, you will finally get to face the most challenging element: The MUD. Yes, the course is vibrant with this fourth element and not only it will slime the ball, it will slime everything - including your shoes, pants, and even carts. If you wish to face this challenge, I would recommend getting a tee time especially after a rainy weather.

Trying to hit a ball off this means requiring your utmost level of concentration and will to push the limit, and yes - it will not be easy, but somehow you will have fun :-).

Green is also very colorful. I love diversity, and it will curve your ball in a very fun and weirding way during your putting.

I'm sure whoever reads this may be scared and wouldn't approach near this course. However, I'm also sure there will be challengers who would like to push limits. In that case, this course may be a choice!

Aside from that, staffs are friendly, and the course is very approachable. Whatever the case, let's try to enjoy the game. Let's try our best (maybe the course will try its best someday too!)

First time playing at Blackhawk, and it had just rained quite a bit, so I expected some squishiness. However, this course is full of clay, so it was almost unmanageable. Greens were in very bad condition, and there is no distinguishing the green/fringe/fairway. Will not be coming back to this course unless I read improved reviews. Pace of play was terrible as well and there weren’t any Marshall’s that I noticed to keep pace going steady. The staff however was nice.

Are you kidding me?

This course isn’t even close to being playable. Quite honestly I’m irritated that it’s even open. This course is terrible. Just putting on those greens are like playing Plenko on the price is right. I would request a refund for that piece of trash, but I know I wouldn’t get it.

Worst conditions in Austin

I’ve lived in Austin for almost 20 years and used to play here regularly when it still had bunkers and was in much better shape. It is in the worst shape since opening and it’s the worst of anything within 50 miles. I play 2-3 times every week, and use golfnow each time and always playing different courses. I feel like I haven’t seen course conditions this bad since Lago vista a couple years ago.

On top of that, the pace of play was god awful and not a Marshall in sight. Even at $20 it wasn’t worth it, and I have zero plans of ever going back.

Played here way back in the day and it was a super nice course. It has been let go bad. Driving range was closed. Fairways were sticky mud with almost no grass. Basically had to get lucky to get a nice lie. Greens have weed patches all over them, so your basically doing trick shots instead of putting. Was kind of disappointed to see how bad this place was let go. All the staff was super nice though.

Should be way cheaper

The course is fine if you're looking for a last minute, affordable round, but don't expect it to be anything special. The layout is decently fun and creative, but the conditions have been horrible for years, and seemingly without any efforts to improve. Even for $40-50, that price doesn't necessarily seem fair, when it doesn't feel like the money is going towards any course improvements.

Tired but playable

The City of Pflugerville, assuming they own , need to step up and maintain this course better. It’s a decent layout but vent few holes are in decent shape. Course is affordable and playable except for #10 which is far too close to Kelly Lane traffic. It’s very unsafe for the majority of golfers who may tend to to Alice the ball into an oncoming windshield. How do they get away without high fencing to protect the drivers?! This hole has been reduced to a short par 3 due to the construction. The golf course was there long before the development that encroaches it. Poor planning and management.

Excellent value

Where else can you pay for 18 holes with a cart and bucket of range balls for $30? The course conditions aren't the best but you're able to play for a hefty discount, I'll definitely go back!
