Blackhawk Golf Club

About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Course will test you
Man, this course plays long, especially the par 3s.
I tried to enter my score on GHIN but it did not recognize this course.
Poor upkeep
This course has a lot of potential but is just missing some love. The condition has improved in the last year but still not very good. I wish they would bring sand traps back. Not worth the amount of money but still the cheapest play.
Good value to play a quick evening round
We played 18 holes in 3 hours and 20 minutes. The course was a little rough but good enough to hone your game and test your progress.
Getting Better
It's been a while since I've played this course. Honestly, the last time I played here it was so bad I said I'd never come back. Yesterday (9/7) I played a round here because my nephew wanted to and I have to say it's the best I've seen it. Tee boxes weren't too bad, and the greens were rolling nice. The fairways are still in rough shape but they now are mostly grass a weeds. I don't think it was worth the $60 for the round but Star Ranch was $120 for Saturday mornings. Golf in the area is is way over priced. Hopefully the Blackhawk management keeps working on it and it keeps getting better.
Blackhawk
Course is in gear condition, lay out is good now too difficult, greens play slow a little adjustment and it was fine, had a great time!!
Austin must play
Great course. I don’t have the vocabulary to describe it
Price reflects clientele and conditions
Course is rough, but the pace was worse. Got stuck behind not one but two groups of 2 that had no clue of etiquette. My back 9 was spent waiting 10 minutes between shots.
Know what you’re buying
Dirt and weeds on the fairways. Sand pits covered over with grass. The course isn’t in good condition, but it’s playable especially for a beginner like me.
Lots of potential
Too many weeds, I love bright colors balls in the middle of the fairway every week. They cut the grass but the weeds are insane. Fair prices and tee times are readily available
My buddy and I played in just under 4 hours. Greens were in pretty good shape on most holes. Fairways are green after recent rain. 2nd time I have played here in the past month. Buddy kept saying it was better than he expected. Will be back! Be sure to bring your own water! None on the course and no beverage cart.
Worst course ever
If I could rate this 0 stars it would be to much. This is the worst course I have ever played. The greens, fairways, and tee box’s had more sand on it than the beach. The whole course is under repair and bare spots and rocks littered the fairways. For $60 this was a joke. Honestly worst time ever playing. The pace was 6 hours!
