Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Blackhawk
Still managed to enjoy ourselves for a course with so little maintenance.
Meh
Course is in pretty bad shape and pace of play is ridiculous, but if you can play for like $15 or less I guess it’s worth the drive.
Greens smooth and fast
Course was cart path only and had water pooling on some fairways from snow melt. So very unusual for Texas. Greens in very nice shape overall, fairways need work even if not soaked. Hot deal special was a nice bargain and would play again.
Like playing on concrete. Bunkers = water hazards. They mix carts and people walking so expect there to wait.
The New Bluebonnet
Since Bluebonnet bailed during Covid and sold the course to a trailer park development:/ I tried BH. Very VERY similar. Windy, hard pan, rocks all over. Stacked up fairways with people playing your fairway from 3 holes over.
Same as Always
Bunkers were unplayable. Carts need repair/replacement. Fairways and greens were pretty bad. But...it was close, cheap, and they had an open tee time.
scott
great time and great round eventhough it was crowed played the whole round in 4 1/4 hrs
Average review
Greens were in decent shape. Fairways were in poor shape. Like hitting off concrete. Fairway and green side bunkers in poor condition with weeds, dried out water puddles and no sand
Good course but....
Overall the course was good. One issue was that we showed up an hour before our round to practice at the driving range. We were told they had no practice balls left and we had to wait 40 minutes for someone to go gather range balls.
Worst shape I’ve seen in years
I could not believe how rough this course has gotten. Tee times were wide open yet we got behind two foursomes that played slowly with no help from management.
The waiting isn’t a problem, though. This golf course simply isn’t playable anymore. Greens are severely damaged, fairways are not managed and have so much debris and bumps all over. I ran into an issue on about every hole due to the course not being maintained.
If you’re playing here for the price, I’d strongly consider paying a few bucks more and going anywhere else.
