Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Had two First Timers!
Little expensive for Winter golf in Texas. I'm going to be coming back to this course in the spring time to give it a better rating. Staff was amazing even amid the horrible news. We had two first time ladies with us and they played so well. We were a tad slow, but allowed two groups to play through and still kept good pace. I will be back.
Not a golf course
I’ve been playing golf for 35 years and this is the worst course I have ever played. Sand traps at best were not playable at all and at worst had marshes growing inside of them. Fairways were so bumpy/rocky/burned out you had to drive the cart at quarter speed to avoid getting back pain.
The staff was nice, and allowed us to keep our bags in the back office while we played as we had to go directly to the airport after.
It was cheap.
Coarse is in tough shape
Coarse was in tough shape, fairway and greens. I would believe that in the Spring the wet weather and sun will help this coarse a lot. I would wait to play on this coarse a few months.
Course needs a lot of work
We’ve played this course 3 times now. The marshal doesn’t have a clue. Tee times are not respected and players can feel rushed. The majority of the golfers here are not here to play golf they are here to screw off. It is a very disappointing experience and we will not return!!!
Greens were good bunkers and fairways need some help. Price could have been cheaper for the condition the fairways and bunkers were in.
doc from mich
greens r best part of co
urse fairways n traps need work. layout. nice. can tell course was prbably. really nice back in day. staff was great. price was great plus nice day in middle of winter better then snow in mich
Could be a 4 with a little work.
Why won't you put sand in the bunkers? Also you have two porta potties on the front nine, how about putting one of those on the back nine. Mostly put some sand in the sand traps.
Ok for the price
I like the course for the affordability. I hate that they never have sand in the sand traps, just dirt and mud.
Great Course, Terrible Condition
Fairways are are uneven and littered with hard, bare spots. Bunkers are either muddy or filled with water. Greens are decent, but surrounded by invasive st Augustine making chipping near impossible.
This is all such a shame, as the course design is awesome, one of my favorite layouts in the area. For $10-$15, it’s a good course to play, but I wouldn’t recommend paying more than that.
It’s a dog track
The only thing that was in good shape were the greens. No sand in bunkers and the fairways were literally like an off road course with netting coming up on several holes.
Cool Course
It’s a nice course. Could be kept in better shape, but still enjoyable to play.
