Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Course needs attention all over
This course could be really nice, but there were weeds all over the fairways, no real clear separation of fairway and rough, the bunkers were not maintained and had grass/weeds in them.
I realize this is a difficult time but I would expect the course to be maintained to some degree.
Nice course
Due to covid 19 they were adjustment but fun course
Blackhawk
The course is so much fun to play. The course needs a little love. But alls and all was a good experience. Will definitely visit again.
Bad service and even worse up keep
Overall the course was in horrible condition with a 6 hour pace of play. It was a very unpleasant experience. Also had rude customer service. Will NOT be returning to this course.
Staff is incompetent
After arriving 10 minutes EARLY, they said they were out of carts. After 30 minutes of waiting, they gave a cart to the later tee times and said sorry we can’t help you. Had the nerve to say it’s our groups fault for not choosing to walk. Image being early to your tee time, they make you wait 30 minutes for a cart, then give the cart you’ve been waiting for to the later tee time And say it’s your fault for missing your time. Bet you’d be heated too.
If there wasn’t a barrier between me and the staff, I’d probably be sitting in the back of the sheriffs car. These dull folks are beyond incompetent and don’t know how to manage times or customers. The owner of this place needs to step in.
DONT GO HERE EVER!!!!!!
I would give this place zero stars if I could. We did not even get to play. I got to the course at 3:50 early for a 4:20 tee time. They said wait until a cart came available. I came back nicely at 4:10 and the guy lied and said 4:10 already checked in but wasn’t true. There were tons of carts but they said none were there. 4:40 rolls around and he says no carts for us but gave a cart to 4:40?! It was unprofessional, unintelligent, and didn’t care. This is the worst golf experience I have ever had. He would not even let us pay. If you do want to play golf on a nice Friday afternoon, DO NOT COME HERE.
Great value course
Nothing special, but great value golf in easy driving distance from Austin.
Great Course
Well maintained course that’s pretty open but still challenges you. Great service even during Covid 19.
If you choices are limited, play here
Blackhawk is a fairly nice golf course where much needed improvements have been made on the course itself. I think the prices are fair and the staff is excellent with the exception of Nick. Nick can exhibit a "I'm doing you a favor by letting you play here" attitude. If you can look beyond his attitude, you'll have no problems. The pace is average and the marshals let you play. They are all friendly, not like Star Ranch (with the exception of Nick). The wind is always blowing at Blackhawk which makes the course more challenging.
Sad
It's "COVID-19 time" so you have to take that into consideration, but this is a very** neglected golf course.
We golfed here because there were no other available tee-times.
It's sad to see a course that has potential be so neglected...and that has been happening for a while - not just during this pandemic.
This is ghetto golf.
The good news is the pace of play was excellent.
For years this track beats you to death. The entire course is like an old washboard that bounces you and your clubs around endlessly.
Someone missed maintainer/leveling day when this place was built and it’s never gotten better
Course was ok. Needed improvement in some areas. Good for beginners!
Not bad
I have heard bad things about this course but I was pleasantly surprised. The course was in good shape except for the bunkers. They were unplayable and a disappointment. The fairways and greens were pretty solid and the layout is fun and has a good mix of shots. I will definitely play here again. Hopefully the can work on the bunkers.
