Blackhawk Golf Club
About
Blackhawk rests on the site of an old dairy farm, where the rolling terrain is suited for this links-style layout. This wide-open course features lots of water, loads of bunkers, and huge greens that are easy to three-putt if your approaches are off and you don’t have that feel for lag putting.
Each side has a punishing finishing hole. No. 9 is a monstrous par 4 that plays 464 yards. Off the tee, the narrow landing area is not conducive for the necessary booming drive, and the water causes problems in the fairway and around the green.
Hole 18 plays 430 yards, requiring a tee shot into the dogleg-right fairway that must thread two bodies of water.
The club prefers that you walk only on weekdays.
Getting there : Take I-35 north out of Austin, then exit FM 1825 east. Drive 5 miles to Hwy. 685 and turn left. Drive another 2.5 miles to Kelly Ln. and turn right.

Need Help
Issue with carts, not enough and majority ran out of power. They need a complete cart overhaul .
This course needs much help.
Was told the course was a good condition. It wasn't! A $10 fee with cart would have been more in line for the condition. As well, the Carts ran out of juice after 9 holes. If you are in a pinch and just need to swing the club for cheap, try to get this one for $15 or less.
Beauty is dependent on the individual.
Blackhawk is my go to for a no frills golf course. Pace of play is amazing here. Fastest I finish a round here was 2 hours and up to 3.5 if I am looking for balls. Course layout is very fun. Greens are solid for the price. Very flexible on tee times.
Now the bad. Carts are a real struggle here. Some might not make a whole round. Fairways are a work in progress.and amenties are lacking. But for 10 dollar ounds thia cpurse is worth a play.
Couse has major problems
This is the worse managed golf course I have ever played. Groups tee off from the front and back. Singles, twosomes ...anything goes. Complete disarray. The greens are descent is the only positive I can think of. Oh well, you get what you pay for. Won't be going back. Heard it was going to shut down....I can see why.
Absolutely horrible customer service
Poor course condition, pathetic amenities, carts with no battery, and even worse customer service. Don't waste your time here.
Nice layout - bad course conditions
Front desk was friendly and helpful. Course conditions - Tees - Poor shape with alot of divots. Fairways - poor condition - alot of divots, bare ground, poor grass coverage, dirt and rocks. Greens - these were the only moderately good part of the course.
It was ok
This was the 6th time I've played on this course and my first time in 7 years or so. The course is not horrible but, probably not going back. The greens were in great shape but, the fairways not as good. This place has gone down since, I've last played. The pace of play was excellent. We had to change our cart after the first 9 holes. We barely made it to the club house. If we get an excellent deal, I'll come back or if I get a free round.
Fairways were rough, greens were in good condition
Not a terrible course. The fairways were pretty rough but the greens were in great shape. There is more water on the course than expected. Sand traps are in terrible shape.
The Marshall is an *******
The Marshall allowed a single, who was really a double, jump in front of us on the back 9. The guy and his girlfriend stopped in the club house and ate for 30 minutes after they played 9. Not my fault so they shouldn’t get to jump us. We tell the Marshall that they jumped us and him and his girlfriend are teeing off 3-4 Times. The Marshall says he’s a single and before I could say anything else drove off. Not my 1st incident with this Marshall. Never helps. Total @@@@@@@
Playable, but could be better
The course was in decent shape, better than when I played in July. There are still some rough spots but I enjoyed our round. Greens were lush and slow but in good shape. There were a couple of bad apples slowing down the pace of play considerably and no marshal to get them going. I don't play this course enough to know if that is common or not.
Black Hawk Shadow
The course is deceptively challenging, the greens weren't tamped as well and especially around the cup area.
Great course for the money
Blackhawk is a course that has improved greatly over the past 6months. It's a pretty mellow course that caters to all types of golfers. Beginners will like how open and friendly it is, good golfers will REALLY like their scorecard. If you would've asked me to rate the course 6 months ago I'd say a 2 star. I give it a 3 now only because it's pretty easy (although my score doesn't reflect that) but if you were to golf at shadow glen or crystal falls, the courses are much nicer and more challenging.
Got to play this course for $12, because of a hot deal, and it was well worth it. I ended up playing alone and finished in less than 3 hours. The greens were in great shape and the fairways were decent. I will definitely recommend this course and play again!
Not well taken care of
Played a few times over the upkeep of the course doesn't seem to be getting better. Patch work of grass for the fairways, greens are alright but un-interesting. Rough is just weeds with inconsistent mowing.
Best value - golfing in north Austin area
This course has improved the last couple years and the prices are very reasonable.
- Course plays well for beginners and intermediate level golfers.
- Golf carts are new
- Staff very friendly
- Clubhouse is as fancy as other courses but clean; fair prices.
Great value overall and I will definitely return.
