Elks Run Golf Club

Super excited to play this Norman designed course, and overall must admit that Elks Run is fantastic golf property. The grounds, practice areas, clubhouse are among the very best in Cincy. Staff was very courteous and friendly. However, the course itself needs lots of work- especially the back 9. Didn't think too much of #1 sand bunker playing as ground under repair. Front 9 in much better condition than back 9. Hate to say the best part were thetee boxes, but many of the fairways are chewed up with dead spots, and overall the greens were beat up as well- lots of dead brown areas on greens, especially the back 9. Really enjoyed the layout and this course plays tight but fair from the Blues. Just a shame that the conditions were not up to par with the property of this caliber. Hopefully next time the conditions will be on same level as Legendary, Yankee Trace and Walden Ponds. Will be back next year to check it out.

I was traveling to OH (which I do many times a year). I have family there so we all went (my two brothers and my father) to go play this course. We are all pretty decent players (10 or so handicap) and play 50-100 times a year. We played on Sunday the 23rd and I've never in my life seen worse pin locations. They literally made the course not fun at all.

Every (and I mean every) pin was 3-5 feet towards some end of green and at the end of an up and down slope - or wherever the hardest spot was. A few of those a round is fine. That's challenging and makes some holes interesting. EVERY hole just makes it not fun at all.

For example, if you're 100 yards out and hit a perfect wedge shot and you're either going to be 10-20 feet short (where you have to do an up and down putt - and even if you make a great roll you're rolling off green) - and nothing you can do about it. I was thinking maybe they just start it out that way but by about the 5th or 6th hole it become extremely frustrating/made us dislike the round a lot. Not fun to play at all. The course literally had ZERO middle pin locations and every single pin location was in the most difficult spot of the green. This is a public golf course and we played on the weekend. No excuse for that (thank you for making my handicap go up at least I guess)......

When I travel my brothers and I play probably 20 rounds a year in the Cincy area. We won't play this course again. There's a course nearby that is way more normal, challenging, and rewarding if you play good golf. I did like that this course had a pretty good layout/some interesting holes (where you have to be strategic), but then it is immediately ruined by having the most dumb pin locations I've ever seen over a 18 hole course.

Course was wet and it was cart path only. Pace of play was extremely slow as we waited to hit on every hole. Lot of danger of being hit by other golfers balls. Several holes use common pathways running in the same direction causing you to constantly look behind you to see if someone on another fairway was hitting into you. Back nine greens were in rough shape, looked like they were being seeded.. I will not come back,

Finished our round in under four hours on a weekday. Very fun course. The greens really need a lot of work, almost all of them had a ton of ball marks on them. It’ made it difficult to make close short putts because the ball was bouncing so much. I only hit into one bunker, but many did not look good either. I would say the course was in better condition last year when I played. Would still recommend this to others, but the quality wasn’t as good as previous rounds here.

Well worth the trip to Batavia, beautiful, challenging course in good condition for under $50, can’t beat it!

Monday league allows us to play course regularly. Staff is great. Friendly and attentive. They have been on top of Corvid restrictions taking safety seriously. Course in very good shape with some fair and challenging holes. Would recommend layout for all levels.

I've played Elk's Run at least 50 time over the past 20 years and have always found it to be a challenging and fun course to play. Perhaps a bit more fun since the Heather was cut back in the rough areas several years ago. Great use of the natural topography, picturesque views from elevated tees and plenty of bunkers to keep it interesting, one of the toughest courses in the region, but we'll worth the drive.

Love this course....You get a beautiful outdoor experience, interesting layout, and challenging golf. Great value, too! Highly recommend to everyone.

I love the course, love to play it. But, they seem to raise their prices on a daily basis, making it hard for me to choose this over courses in the area that are just as nice but a lot less expensive to play. Seems pandemic supply and demand has taken over.
